I've just submitted my first story and its making me nervous as hell. Is it any good? Is there enough, or is it overwrought? Why is my punctuation so lousy? Is it too explicit? Is it explicit enough?
Arrrggghhh!!
Please tell me it gets better with time.

Kisses,
Ramierez

Hi Ramierez,

Congratulations on taking the plunge and submitting. I remember how nerve-wracking my first submission was, but I think it does get better. With a couple of stories under my belt, I feel much more relaxed nowdays when I hit the 'submit' key. Hopefully the feedback you get will give you some indication of how it has been received, and surprisingly, you do get better with time and practice. I balk when I read my first submission now, but it did get me some attention and a couple of 'loyal' readers who read and feedback on all my stories.

Relax and take it as it comes. Good luck!

Yes. Yes. Yes! It does.

Let's get back after 5 submissions. ;)

And congrats on the first.

i didn't get first submission nerves - probably because i'd shown my first story to friends first.

by the way, they knew i was a pervert anyway

I know what you mean

I just submitted my first piece as well. The feedback has been great, so that makes me less anxious about it. Still it's stressful to wait and see. Honestly, I wasn't aware of the rating system and when I saw I had a 4.50 rating, I thought my story sucked. Who rates in 5's anyway? What about the movie star system or 1-10? I was like damn, my story sucks, I will never write erotica again.

Anyway, it's encouraging when it works out, and makes you want to go forth with a new tale. Good Luck Ramirez!!!

Ah the feedback yep gotta love it! I get slammed all the time yet not one of my stories is below a 4.4 why is that?

Do not take it all to heart some people are just rude and others have a point for you to digest. In either case write what you want to write and don't be so concerned with the feedback. Use it to build your next work of art, not as a personal attack.

Ps. Good feedback seems to make it all worth the time.

Hmmmm...
Tried the showing to friends thing, and I always get high praise. Or are they just being nice?
Man, I'm paranoid, and to think I want to be a novelist!
I know I'm a good writer, but its getting over that psycological hurdle. When I first started writing a year or so ago, I was too wound up for ANYONE to read it, but I have managed to become more detatched from my work.
Just noticed I'm listed as a virgin, in which case, my partner will wonder what he's been doing with me for the last five years!:D

First story jitters are rough. It took one of my friends a month of browbeating to getme to post my first story. Just remember that each one becomes easier and once you get some feedbacks that are positive posting becomes a joy not a trial.

i've got a 3.88 rating on my first story submission - slightly better than average i suppose, under 3 would be below average

I can definitely sympathize with you. I was so unsure of my first submission (Halloween story) because it was so unlike me, that I deleted it before it had a chance to be approved.

I submitted my first two works last week, them promptly went out of town. It kept me from becoming to engrossed in my numbers, but I have to admit I was honored by the response thus far to one of my works.

Hi all 1st timers, and there was me thinking I was the only one :D

How encouraging to know that there are some more jittery writers like myself :)

I got involved on LIT, originally because I love reading the stories;) then I got into collaborations, which I also love doing and finally, I took the plunge! I recently wrote and submitted a story, all by myself! LOL As has been said, hitting that submit button was a scary moment! But............ it was accepted! :D

Although it has had quite a few views, only 9 votes,(probably friends! LOL) and very little feedback! I am guessing that this is either the norm, or the story isn't good enough? I would really appreciate feedback, as I'm sure we 'newbies' all would and I must admit, it is something I do now when reading other writers

Keep writing folks, have fun and always, have Sweet Dreams.;)
