I wonder if anybody else has heard about the new TS movie: Ticked-off Trannies with Knives.

Apparently it has GLAAD all up in arms. But, they get upset about anything. It is to be featured at the Tribeca Film Festaval next month.

I have read everything I can find on this movie, and am still confused.

Would like to hear others opinion, especially TS's, as well as any GLB. Also, if you have seen this flick, tell us about it.

Thanks

It's easy to see things as funny when they don't impinge on your identity, your life, your pain.

The lives of transpeople are quite precarious.

Here's a link with a lot of real information about the realities of MTF life;

The scariest statistic is that pre-op Male to females have a suicide rate of 31% with 50% having had at least one suicide attempt by age 20.
It's not like we even need any other assholes trying to kill us. And it isn't funny.

Tribeca's response to GLAAD simply reeks.

okay so I looked up what I could and saw the movie's trailer and came to several conclusions.

1) Besides the fact that they seem to have real breasts, the transsexuals in that film look more like drag queens.
2) Okay so yes it does in fact exploit transsexuals (though Tribeca itself admits it's a “campy homage to the exploitation films”)
3) The whole movie was a bit ridiculous

However, with that being said I wasn't really offended. I mean given, I'd have loved for a better depiction of transsexuals in film and yeah the film reaffirms a lot of stereotypes but I can't honestly say it offends me and frankly I'm no more offended by this than by the Beverly Hillbillys or Amos and Andy (Now honestly both of those had more artistic merit than this movie by a long shot). It's stupid, it's derogatory, and so what. I mean, it's possible I'm missing something. I only saw the tailor and read some of the plot so without seeing the whole movie my opinion is pretty invalid. I don't know, I get why GLAAD is up and arms and I'm not going to begrudge them their right to be upset and frankly hate crimes aren't funny in any way but I'm at least amused by the prospect of transsexuals fighting back, even if it is ridiculously portrayed.
