I just wanted to say to everyone. I have a couple of stories that are still pending approval but once they are up I hope you all take a look at them and feel free to leave your comments and criticisms. Happy Holidays!

hi

I just wanted to say to everyone. I have a couple of stories that are still pending approval but once they are up I hope you all take a look at them and feel free to leave your comments and criticisms. Happy Holidays!

may I suggest you to hat with lit people, get aquainted with many, exchange views and enjoy lit. I found that to be a great thrilling experience. I must thank lit and all that associated with lit for ever.

Thank you for the advice I think I will do that. I am looking forward to getting to know people on here and to exchanging ideas and the like.

Welcome to the madhouse.

When your stories post, put a link in your signature line for us, uh, the lazy people around here.

That's most of us, in practice.
Coffee's there when you are ready, Tx.

Welcome to the clubhouse. You don't have to be mad to hang out here, Greygotskills, but it helps. :)

Submit. Wait. Agonize: Will it be accepted? Will readers like it? Punch REFRESH on your submissions page incessantly until some results are in. Agonize: Why don't they like me? Fall into near-suicidal depression. Drink heavily. Pull out of it. Write some more. After a few months or years, it's all old-hat. Oh yeah, another story. Whatever. [Yawn.]

Welcome aboard. Do you like rum?

Thank you all

Thanks for welcoming me here with open arms and I do drink rum on occasion but it is not my beverage of choice. I posted the link to my story that I hope you all find enjoyable even though it may not be the most original of stories.

Just wrote my first one

Well, after years of reading Literotica stories, I finally took the plunge: got my membership and wrote my first story. It's currently pending; given Christmas/New Years holidays and merriment, it may take a bit longer than most to get approved. If it gets approved.

I'm a former syndicated entertainment writer with a major Canadian news chain - had a major car accident (not my fault, BTW - got rear ended at high speed) and have been mostly sidelined since. This is the first piece I've written in 10 years.

Kinda curious as to whether there are any financial opportunities for erotic fiction writers. There were 30 years ago, but the internet has changed everything. Is it still possible to make a buck writing whack off material? Even a little buck?

Also got a story idea in which a 15 year old girl asks a photographer for some nude photos of her for her boyfriend; photog counsels her against it, gives several good reasons, and lets her Mother know (who is a former nude model herself). Much controversy ensues, girl finally gets to 18, photo session - and much more - ensues.

But I'm wondering if a situation in which an underage girl asks for nude portraits, even when the request is not granted, would break Literoticas submission guidelines. I want to be completely respectful of them, and of all relevant laws as well.

Anybody out there who can offer guidance? I didn't want to bug Laurel about it, especially before I've had anything published.

Thanks for any feedback - Mister Chris

You might want to turn on Private Messaging, Chris, so people can send you feedback. Consider putting a link in your signature when the story goes up.

There's a few threads for Canadians, if you'd like to stop by. Here's one.

More than likely it would be rejected, I wouldn't include the part about being 15.

ETA: Yes, there are some opportunities to try and make a few bucks off of erotic writing. Several people here publish through websites like Amazon and Smashwords independently, and there are a few who go through publishers. Feel free to ask questions, most of the posters don't bite.

Welcome to the AH. :)

(for the OP and anyone else on the thread who's a newbie)

Thanks for the Feedback

Hi, all - I appreciate the words of wisdom. Dianthus, I think PM is now turned on (went into options and clicked the appropriate boxes, saved it, went back and checked). Thanks for the GWN link!

JagFarlane, I think you're right... and as I think it through, the whole issue is peripheral to the story anyway. I can tell it just as well without even venturing down that path. Thanks for helping me clarify my thoughts! I do recall seeing a story somewhere on Literotica that referenced naked children on a nude beach, but it was clearly non-sexual and simply mentioned in passing. Had to do with establishing that it was a family oriented beach, or something.

I know that 18 is the 'legal' age... but at least one adult film maker feels that 18 is too young, and refuses to work with actresses that are younger than 21. He says that there's an incredible drop out rate between 18 and 21, and that a lot of teenage actresses wind up regretting their decision.

I'm all in favor of consensual anything... as long as all participants are old enough to understand the ramifications of their decisions. Considering the number of silly things that get shared out on facebook, twitter and other similar venues, even 21 might be too young.

There's been research that shows the human brain doesn't mature until the mid-20's, making a number of choices that young people take as questionable.

I just advise not putting underage characters in stories because there are a number of threads where people do something similar to what you were proposing and end up being rejected. Particularly happens to new writers as your first few works tend to be reviewed a bit more than more established writers. That a story with nude underage characters made it through, well it happens but most likely would be yanked if it were reported.

Welcome to lit, enjoy the funhouse while you have a Great New Year,,

Welcome newbies! Hopefully you'll find what you're looking for.

The forums can get pretty wild at times. At times, it feels as if you need a scorecard to sort out "okay, this person doesn't like this person. . . and this one over here will always dismiss anything someone else says. . . and this person. . . ." Stick with it, you'll find some interesting people.

Lit has themed contests every couple of months. Those contest entries tend to attract lots of readers to your contest entry and the rest of your Lit library. Dig around within this AH forum (AH = Authors Hangout) and you'll find the Valentine's Day forum.

Be kind to each other. Don't expect anyone else to be kind back and then you'll be pleasantly surprised when someone is. A thick skin can be required around here.

Mostly, have fun!
