I'm new to submitting stories, but now that I put one down on paper, I've got about 5 more bottled up. Can anyone tell me how the ratings work ? What is the scale? What, typically is considered a good quantity of views? I want to see if my submission is entertaining you all, the way many of you have entertained me. I can use any feedback to make the next submissions ever better. Thanks again!

Readers are given the option to vote on your story, if you've read any on this site then you will see this at the end of the story, scale 1 - poor, 5 top marks. If you allow Public and Private feedback, then some readers will pass comments on how they liked your story, either publicly or sent to you via private email. Not all readers offer comments, or rate your story, and how many viewings/ratings you get will very much depend on which category your story falls into, some have much higher reader interest than others.

One of the things I would urge you to consider is finding yourself an editor who will help you improve your work, which in turn should improve your ratings and comments. You can find an editor by searching Lit's volunteer editor list, or placing a post in the Editor's Forum.

Good luck
Sandy

The ratings are an average of your votes, and the scale is 1 - 5. To get an H next to your story, it must have a rating, or score, of 4.5 or better. It's not always an accurate thing, though, so don't take it too much to heart. Most of the time the best stories don't have the highest ratings, and the ones with the highest ratings are often pure stroke pieces.

Views? They vary greatly depending on the category. Some categories get very few views, and some get views that are hard to believe. I think that the Incest category, and Loving Wives, probably get the most number of views.

What if a story has two votes and has a rating of 5, but does not show up with the H next to the story?

Hi, Doc, and welcome to Lit. I have a lot of fun writing stories and posting them here and I hope you will too. Mine are almost all what Cloudy refers to as "stroke" and I am not at all ashamed of that.

Goddess, to have an H next to a story, it needs a rating of at least 4.5 with minimum of ten votes.

Incest gets a lot of views and so does anal. The story of mine that has the most views, well over 75,000 the last time I looked, is a non-consent/reluctance story. It's actually a story of affectionate and completely consensual sex but the people in the story are role-playing a gang rape of a suburban housewife. It's a fun story and really dirty.

The lowest number of views, at least in stories, is probably Science Fiction and Fantasy. Romance also gets a low number, probably because they are usually more than stroke stories. Novels and novellas get few views also, maybe because so many readers don't want to get involved in reading long stories.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy yourself here.

Thank you m'dear, I appreciate the clarification... Some of the things around here are complicated. However, I have found a lot of people are very friendly on the boards and I can ask and always get an answer.
