Why hello there all of those who decided to grace my thread. I recently movedmoved to Alexandria, VA from Louisiana. I am very much looking forward to my new life here in the DC area (although the traffic thing still gets me). But the problem is that I don't have anybody to show me around.

That being said, what am I looking for in a tour guide? Preferably, a man between the ages of 26-32, put that is merely a preference. I'd like a man who can hold a conversation about a variety of subjects, a man who appreciates art as well as football (don't get in between me and my LSU football). I would enjoy the company of a man who is funny and witty, perhaps a bit romantic. I'd like a man who I am just as comfortable with eating dinner at a nice restaurant as I am curling up on a couch in a comfortable outfit watching a movie on a rainy sunday afternoon. I'd like a man who can stimulate my mind as well as my body, because I do not deny the importance of a great kiss. A great kiss can take one's breath away and those are always wonderful moments.

Now, for a little bit about me. As I said, I am 25 until September when I begin the downward slide toward 30 <eghad> :) I am a bigger woman but I am a sexy, sensual woman. I am intelligent, have a rather sarcastic sense of humor, I am a loyal friend and I have a good heart. I am a pretty good catch actually, if I do say so myself.

I am looking for a friends, males and females alike. So if any of this sounded a bit interesting to you, please post or im me. I hope to hear from you soon.

You sound awesome. I live in the DC area but I am married. If you are looking for a friend and don't mind my being married, please reply and we can set up a touring date. I am very familiar with DC and its attractions.

:D

Alpha, thanks for the welcome...are you close by?

SexyNerd, I am flattered by your compliment and I would like a chance to at least chat online. I won't lie the marriage thing makes me a tad hesitant though, but like I said, looking for friends as well.

Just bumping...I am getting a few views here and there but no responses...<slight pout> There's no one out there who is in the slightest bit interested?

hmmm...another attempt at a bump

Well, hey there! Nice to see you've got a thread of your own...I wish I was closer to DC, wouldn't mind being a tour guide and learning more about the area myself...I come up to Tyson's Corner and/or Leesburg several times a year, but never really long enough to learn more than a few miles around the hotel I'm staying in.

But, would be glad to be on your list of friends and whatnot, even though I'm also outside the age range you listed and am married as well...

Yep...but that doesn't mean I can't play. <g>

Who knows? I may just luck out and find a second soulmate. Then I could double-date with the wife and her boyfriend. <smile>

Well, I'm married, so as you say, you'd likely be uncomfortable (as would I, frankly). I'm also, at 50, out of your preferred age range.

There are lots of things to see in Old Town in particular, and you don't need a guide (but it helps). For instance -- there is the Torpedo Factory down near the River. During WWII, it was an actual torpedo factory (and they have a few dummy torpedos still around the place). Now it's a three-story artista's enclave. You can buy various artistic items from them if you see something you like -- lots of pottery, painting, some photographers, etc. One end of the factory opens into an enclosed mall where you can buy various items.

Just down from that is a park that runs along the Potomac River -- great spot for a picnic, and they have tour boats as well. Also, at various points towrd the south end of the park (into the more commercial area, actually), you will see various street musicians. Feel free to donate and listen for some wonderful amature music.

Moving back up from the river on King street, you'll see a square shopping mall -- lots of little kitschy stores there. On one side, you'll find Pat Troy's Irish pub. Wonderful food and drink, as well as live entertainment.

If you like a good bowl of chili, you have to find Hard Times Cafe. They are right on King street, just down from Diagonal Road, in the shadow of the Masonic Temple. They serve a robust Texas Chili, a sweet, cinamon-laced Cincinatti chili, a vegaetarian dish if you're interested, and have recently introduced a fourth type, which I cannot for the life of me remember. They also have the traditional burger/dog combination if that's your fancy.

These are just a few of the highlights, and they're all within walking distance without even leaving Old Town.

Enjoy!

Just bumping this thread up....Eclips I hope we get a chance to chat sometime.

And rik, I am not exactly sure what I am looking for, I know DC would have to be a good hot spot of activities...just looking for someone to kind of point me in the right direction

Congratulations on your move!

I am still down here at school in the south.

People, Ms Belle here is a wonderful woman, and you would be hard pressed to find anyone better. So, send her those PM's and post here dammit! ;)

Hope you are enjoying your new digs....

That's awesome that you're up in VA. I'm around town sometimes, more recently been a home body. But if you're ever looking for someone to hang out with, PM me or email me. I'd be glad to help you get to know the area better.

Alexandria is a neat place to live if you enjoy a city-ish lifestyle. But not too far west you can get away from it all at a winery or just out in the country somewhere.

Talk to you later.

Actually, I live in Baltimore MD, so that's not too far away. I'm kind of into football, tough I'm not real technical. I like to cheer for the Ravens though. Also, the Maryland Terapins.

I'm into doing things like eating out, seeing movies, stuff like that. I'm also an anime buff. I don't know D.C that well though so.

Best part is, I'm not married, but I am 25. :b

just bumping this thread up
So how are the tours going? Been anywhere fun and exciting yet, or still recovering from the move? <g>

BTW -- forgot to mention a few things the other day. Don't know your taste in music, but there's plenty of variety. A few places come to mind -- The Birchmere is in the Del Ray area. I keep promising myself I'll actually get there someday:

http://www.birchmere.com/index_netscape.cfm

Another place I _have_ been to is Jammin' Java -- it's a bit far out for you -- Vienna, to be exact. You can get some coffee, a sadwhich, soup, or desert along with some fine entertainment. Look them up at:

http://www.jamminjava.com/

_Way_ far out is a small, comfortable place -- the Riverdale Bookshop, in Riverdale, MD. They sell used books mostly, but have a small area off to the side with a stage. You can catch various performers as well as get a cafe mocha and some desert while you listen. They call it the Music Junction:

http://www.riverdalebookshop.com/

A bit closer to home is The Ice House Cafe in Herndon. I've not been there in years, but they still do live jazz on a Friday or Saturday night. Chek them out at:

http://www.icehousecafe.com/index2.html

Hope this helps!

Ah the tours are nonexistent Hair...but thank you for the tips, definitely worth looking into.

and hello Omnish

Not quite local, I'm in NY lol. I do have family in the area and I've been through more than once or twice. Definately a great choice for a move! Hope you enjoy it as much as I think you will. If I pass through again, Ill be sure to let ya know =)
