New stories missing from author's page

Something I've noticed ... NEW stories - accessed via the new stories page - are (sometimes/often) not showing up on the author's page the same day they show up in the new stories page.

And - in the instances that they do show up on the author's page - the rating is suppressed (x.xx) instead of a number.

I really miss the ratings of stories - I don't have time to read every story - so I often pick based on these ratings. It sucks when the ratings are not available.

(At first, I thought these authors were switching off rating - but, then I realized that's not the case - the store CAN be rated, but the ratings are shown as 'x.xx' on the author's page.)

Until a story acquires 10 votes, it will always show as x.xx.

Also, the public author pages only update every so often, so it will only change when the next update cycle comes around and the story has more than 10 votes.

That being said, the entry for a new story typically posts to the public author pages as soon as it goes live on the site, so if that's happening, there is an issue. There are just some normal, possible explanations for the score observations you've provided.

I'm a long time reader - I have a routine.
I open the 'new' stories - then click the author to check the rating - then click back to the story to read it.

Over the past few days, I've noticed this doesn't work right - because the story is either missing or has x.xx as the rating.

This is NEW - I've been doing things this way for years - on this site. All of a sudden - it doesn't work. So, I think something's wrong.

One of my followers who has e-mailed me regularly pointed out a couple weeks ago that "Stories have been disappearing from the site lately. Some of the authors I have followed for years suddenly have only a handful of stories where they used to have 20 or more."

He tried to give an example, and pointed to a new submission that day in Incest / Taboo. He could click the link to that story and read it just fine. But when he followed the link to the author's page, there was only one story on that author's page and it wasn't that new story.

By the time I read the e-mail and followed the link, the new story had been added to that author's page. However, as Monogamous_Now pointed out, that was never the case before. Those stories normally appeared on the author's page as soon as they posted to the New Stories page.

Still continuing today. Stories on the LW hub are not posted to the author pages EXCEPT for a brand new author with a first story.

Still a problem?

It's been about a month since I uploaded the last chapter of a story, so this is new to me, apparently.

Chapter 7 of the story I'm currently writing was published last night. The story shows up in the new story listing, but if someone navigates to my list of stories, that one is there, but not linked to the first 6 chapters, the rating (with at least a couple dozen ratings) shows only (x.xx) and the Hot icon is absent.

When I got to my author's page, the story is there, with ratings and Hot icon, Ratings is turned on.

So I should just wait, maybe overnight, and see if it corrects itself? I think it's detrimental to observes' opinions, or likelihood of reading my story if my followers click from the notification of it being published to my story list instead of directly to the story, and they see x.xx for the rating and no hot icon.

I assume my readers expect to see a hot icon these days.

Story Missing, but Profile Updates Appear

A story (from one of my followed authors) that was posted on 6/22 still has not appeared on my Latest Activity list, but subsequent Profile updates from that same author ‘have’ appeared.

I tried unfollowing that author, signing out, clearing by browser private data (cache, etc.), closing the browser, rebooting my device, bringing up the browser, logged back onto Literotica again, and looked at my author’s latest activity - same result (so I’m sure it has nothing to do with my device).

Like others, I enjoy starting my reading activities by going to my Latest Activity to see if any new stories from a favorite author have been posted. Losing this feature would be a real disappointment.
