I admit I was never a super fan- Not even a single midnight show! (Though recently wife and I decided we're getting dressed up and going SOON!) Regardless used to occasionally watch what was always a FUN movie!

That said, did anyone either a die-hard or casual fan, watch the new one? Thoughts?

Personally I was turned off by two things

1) Too slick! The sound production and film quality were way too clean, took away from the retro vibe that made the original seem even older than it was

and

2) The well intentioned but poorly integrated audience participation blurbs

Haven't seen it, probably never will...

The first one was good enough if you love camping.

I thought in general it was fun and the music excellent. It definitely showed how 'racy' has been redefined since the 70's original, because this thing was really sexed up.

I wasn't thrilled with Frankenfurter being a woman, but she did a great job.

I agree on the audience participation. Bunch of hipster doing things "Ironically"

I couldn't bring myself to watch it. I've gone to a few stage productions and watch the movie, so I tend to sing a long now. The previews for it just left me wanting for something incouldn'5 quite place. Last year the BBC did a live version that I happened to catch on replay Halloween night. That version was great. The audience participation got good and had to be bleeped out.

I was never a super fan, but my kid is a Rocky Horror super fan so we watched it and I listened to the outraged commentary the whole time:

Rocky was too self-aware. Janet was too dramatic and the vocals were terrible. The kid bashed a few scenes as they deviated too much from the original.

--didn't like the lack of consistency with the wardrobes, that some were retro and some were modern.

--thought Eddie's scene was good.

Anyway, I enjoyed it and thought it was alright.

I always saw it in the theater with audience participation. I didn't watch it either. Nothing like watching in a crowd. I can't imagine what they would to sanitize it for TV and didn't want to find out.

Yeah I think the production quality I mentioned was likely the intangible you referenced...

After seeing it in theaters with audience participation, watching on television pales in comparison. I am a big fan of Rocky Horror, but had no desire to watch this.

The Glee Rocky Horror episode was a good watch. I also rather enjoyed The Perks of Being a Wallflower's treatment of Rocky Horror.

I have also ruined many a conversation with the wife talking about a Rocky Horror episode of "Cold Case Files." Haven't had any luck finding it on Hulu or bootlegged anywhere...

There is a new one! What hole have I been in? I am a die hard fan and have been to doesn't of midnight showings. Who let them make a new one? They should be shot.

Now I will have to find this. If I can, anyway.

It was suppose to be campy and hokey. It was originally a stage drama. It was played as such on the screen. It is actually how Tim Curry got his start. Shame about his voice. It was awesome!

Whoo! Still they should leave it alone. Hopefully, Susan Sarandon will last a long time. Tim Curry had one foot in the grave. I think the rest of the main cast is dead. Magenta still alive?

For some reason, probably a brain cloud, I thought I was in the Casablanca thread...

;)

It could also be the non-jetlag of changing shifts and sleep patterns.

Who in the original (that is, the film) cast is dead? Sarandon, Curry, Barry Bostwick, Richard O'Brien, and Meat Loaf are all living.

I guess I thought more of them were dead? Huh. I thought Meatloaf was dead and the monster at the very least. Wait, Meat Loaf's career is dead. Never mind....

Meatloaf

My bad.

Np I had to ask because Tim Curry is barely able to move let alone talk these days. I think Boswick had a heart attack a few years back too. I don't watch tv so I am a bit behind on who dies and all that. Only knew about Curry's stroke because they wanted him to re-dub one of y favorite video games. He was the original voice actor. He couldn't since he can barely talk. Man he was hot in Legend. hehe
