I started my first day in the new wing of the hospital. I had just come out of med school and had no idea of what to do or who to talk to. People bustled around the emergency ward as I stood wondering what do to. I was the newest nurse on the ward and everyone seemed to have a job to go to. Things weren't busy... well not really. The odd accident came in, but there seemed enough nurses and doctors to tend to them. When it reached 3am it got very quiet. It was a week night and no special occasion or holiday. I stood by the drink machine ordering a hot chocolate when I felt there was someone behind me....
