The chat room is still there, but it's pretty boring. In most of the rooms no one talks, discussions apparently through PMs. Last time I visited I was inundated with PMs from guys wanting help jerking off. Needless to say I didn't stay. So to answer your question, yeah they work, but they're pretty worthless IMHO.
