New marine species found in Atlantic Ocean

These are some truly fascinating and colorful creatures discovered in the course of the International MAR-ECO Research Program...a census of marine life in the world's oceans.

Here's the Wiki entry on the program: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Census_of_Marine_Life

If nothing else they may gin up some new tentacle sex fantasies. :D
What I've always found interesting is how little we know about our own world (deep sea life and environments as examples) and yet we are determined to find life in space. I think if we sit down to understand the deep-sea, we might just better understand deep space. Just a random thought, nothing important. :rose:

The snag is that it's probably easier to get a man into space than a man down 2500m on the Atlantic floor.
Fascinating stuff thought.

forget 2500 meters, it's more difficult to keep a person alive 25 meters under water than it is in a total vacuum; it's harder to keep three or four atmospheres of pressure out than it is to keep 0.9 atmospheres of pressure in. (One atmosphere == approx 14 PSIA) With a high-oxygen mix, you only have to maintain about 0.7 atmosphere in space.

The physical structures required for men to survive quickly become Heavy, expensive and unwieldy going down, but can be as flimsy as a party ballon going up. Just the window glass of a bathysphere like Trieste weighs more than a NASA space suit.
