Hi everyone -

I'm new here {waves} and just wanted to say hello. I'm published (not erotica) and looking forward to getting some of my work posted soon.

I think this will be lots of fun...

Welcome to the AH. Let us know when you get some work posted here and by all means, please don't be scared away by all the drama going on here right now.

Welcome to the AH. :rose:

(there's not usually this much upheaval here, but it's been a bad day)

Uh-oh...what's happening? I've been in the pic forum looking at dirty pictures...

Please don't ask. Just internal drama that many of us feel isn't being handled appropriately by the powers that be.

Just pull up a chair and enjoy the nonsense. It's usually a quite hospitable placePlus feel free to spank FieryJen...she makes the coolest noises. :D

What kind of works have you published (since this is your thread and all)?

Welcome to the AH. :)

Check out a few of the friendly threads . . . Word Chains . . . Isolated Blurt . . . Last Person to Post . . .

Or dig right in to the 'Writers Challenges and Exercise Forum'.

Thanks for the welcomes, BTW!

I've been publsihed in some trade journals, travel guides/rags, and some web content. A few feature articles a lot of bit pieces.

Erotica is something I've done for myself; I've only shared it with a few close writer-friends. They have all been encouraging and supportive, so I decided to take this next step. We'll see where I go - where the next foot lands.

I'll look forward to seeing some of your work then. Do you have a general area of erotica you like to write about, or is it a general free-for-all of whatever strikes your fancy?

Lately, it's been pretty much hetero, including multiples and groups. I'm sure I'll open some other doors; I have done lesbian in the past.

My biggest challenge to overcome is that I'm not accustomed to writing in the first person. Most fiction I write/have written has been in the third person - a narrator telling the story. Erotica needs to be much more personal; more intimate.

That said, at least two of my planned submissions are narratives. We'll see how they fly.

First person is certainly acceptable, but there's nothing that says that erotica has to be in first person.

I think you'll find that most of us here write in third person.

Anyway, acaprice (can we call you AC or do you prefer another name?), I hope you do enjoy it here, I'm looking forward to seeing some of your writing. :)

Help yourself to the buffet. A word of caution: a moldy rind doesn't necessarily mean it's cheese.

There are dirty pictures?!

Interesting. Most of the stories I picked here to read (purely random) were in first person, as has been the majority of erotica I've read, (mostly annuals or anthologies) so we'll see.

I've got one just about ready and one in what I hope will be it's final revision.

If you want to get an idea of what the writing is like here, you should check out the top lists for individual categories (it's linked on the main story page). My personal favorites are the Romance and Loving Wives stories (although I'm not typical here ;) ). 3rd person is used by a lot of authors, although I do enjoy writing from a 1st person when I have a solid enough idea. Personally I find it more challenging to write the erotic portions of the story that way, but it may just be a limitation of my writing skills. I love writing the emotional parts of the stories from 1st person though...it's a great way to get into the emotion the character is feeling.

There are some excellent authors both here and on Lit in general (most that submit stories don't ever wind up visiting the AH).

And feel free to make good use of the 'ignore' button if any of the other members begins to offend you on a regular basis. It's better for the blood pressure . . .

Welcome! I find it depends on how I connect with the story if I write in first or third. I find that writing a group sex story, it is difficult for me to write in first person because of have too many people involved. But that's just me.

Oh and I don't know if it's still an unwritten rule or not but I was told to post a nudie pic of myself ;)

No one's told me to post a pic - nice boobs, btw! I'll have to find one...

I've been skimming some of the stories and I'm finding more in thrid person than I did on my random picks. I guess it was just a bizarre coincidence. I haven't written too much with groups, but I can see where first person would be a challenge.
