I submitted two stories in early September and I've only got 13 votes on one and 21 votes on the other. I don't think they're too bad, because my scores are 4.26 and 4.46. But I'm not confident about my writing and I feel didinclinedto write any more until I know what people think of the ones I've already written. How do I get people to vote/email me?! Thanks.:)

Hello and welcome to the bulletin board. One of the forums is Story & Poetry Feedback. You can ask for feedback there. Posting the name of your stories, ideally with a link to the story, helps people reading the forum to find your stories and make comments.

Your stories have only been posted for a couple of weeks. Give it some time. I read both of the stories and they're written well.

If anyone else would like to comment, the stories are Cat, Chris & Matt and To The Limit under Group Sex.

Write for yourself and don't worry about the votes:)

You'll get feedback when your stories touch people.

Hi!

CP -

Welcome to the boards!

There is a section of the boards called "Story and Poetry Feedback" which is the traditional area for soliciting readers and posting "links" to your new posts. Everyone does that there, so try to be creative with your requests. There are so many authors here and everyone wants their stuff to be read and receive feedback...as a result, there is a lot of competition.

As far as attracting feedback, readers, voters, etc., there have been many, many discussions on that very subject here in the Author's thread. So you might try doing a Search on "voting" or "attracting readers" and see what's already 'in the vaults.'

There is an author here, Mickie, whom I have seen post several "how to" posts on attracting votes and readers, feedback, etc.

You might try contacting Mickie directly (likely he'll see your post anyway) or doing another Search and looking for "Mickie" AND "voting" or something like that.

Best of luck.

PS - Oh, by the way, voting levels of only 13 or 21 in a couple of weeks isn't bad. It's only the rare story that gets hundreds of votes quickly.

Also, participating within the Author's board is also a good way to find out how things work and to find other author's with similiar interests (improving your writing, etc.). So, please do that, it can be very helpful and informative.

keep writing

you can only write to please yourself, I think that true. If you really want to improve keep reading stories that you like and admire and keep writing

Best to follow the advice already given; write to please yourself, not others...when they do read and want to reply with feedback or votes, they will. And give it time! It usually takes some people a bit before they feel inclined to respond to a story.

Just a little help from your Friendly Neighborhood Peg-legged Duck! ^_^
