Hi there...have been reading the stories off and on for a while, but just recently decided to get back into writing myself and thought I'd come in and explore the forums. What, or is that how, is this forum set up? I mean, are people engaging in roleplay within the forum or what...?

I know, seems a little silly to me too, but I figured it would be better to ask and seem over cautious than to just go barreling about without a clear understanding of how things work.

Example...
From yahoo groups I'm on, I can guess that closed forums are exclusive threads between those people, right? And that casting calls are looking for people to roleplay with, yes? So...how do I get involved in answering one of these and joining in?

Anyways...thanks for any help with this, and if there are other bits of format, tradition, and/or jargon that I should be aware of, by all means, let me know...<g>

Hi Remec,
thought I'd be the first to jump in and give you a hand on the way things work around here. first off, yes, you're right about your concepts on closed threads and casting calls so we'll skip right ahead to how you can "jump on in" and begin participating in an rp thread on literotica.

We'll go with a hypothetical situation...

Say for example, you were compelled to join and rp called...oh, lets say, "sci-fi((very open casting call))second attempt." First you would look up this particular rp on the thread list, (or search for it by the exact name). Seeing as it's an open casting call, all you need to do is think of a unique character, consider all the details you think would help others when visualizing your character (clothing, hair/eye color, species type, personal shortcomings, character's m/o, etc) then, once you have all that figured out, put it down in writing and post it on the thread. Hope that helps, i just love using hypothetics as a tool for learning, don't you? Alright, see ya around, Remec. Good posting!

It's fairly simple and by clicking "POST" you can write into a thread.

USERCP is where your settings are. How you view things, who's on the buddy list. And subscribed threads are listed there as well. Explore it a bit and check out the open threads.

Thanks everyone...I spent the few minutes I was on after posting this thread checking out some calls and reading the Hecate article. So, now it's just a question of deciding where/what to join and with whom...hehehe funny you should mention that SciFi one Droogie...had my eye on it already...

Remec, any story not listed as "Closed for ... " is open to everyone.
Find one or more, make up a fitting character, submit it as an OOC or PM it to the story's starter and ask if the character and background is alright and if you can join.
Bet you get lots of invites. *S
Alternatively dust off the ole imagination and start one of your own with a good background foundation post. *g

Nahhhhhhhh don't listen to that advice. *L* Just dive right in and remember there are also 'chat' threads you can visit to just talk with other writers like Rick's Rooftop Lounge and a couple of others too. Plus most story OOC's will let you ask questions about the story, characters wanted or needed and about joining the story too.
