how do I get a link with text in it using the new icons? when I use the link icon, like before, I don't get the text prompt.

I don't either. But what I do get is the text portion highlighted. So when I click OK after putting in the link, the text portion is highlighted. I just start typing the text, the link text goes away and is replaced by what I text. Actually, it saves a mouse click.

In most of the new skins, type the text portion of the link in the body of your post and Highlight it. Then click the Hyperlink Icon to paste the URL.

It's actually easier and less confusing once you get used to it.

If you just hit the link icon and paste in a url, this is what you get.

[U R L="http://www.google.com"]http://www.google.com[/ U R L]

The second (w ww.google.com) will be highlighted. If you just start typing the text, it gets replaced. Then when you post, the clickable text shows up just like before.

Harold is right though and I wish I'd thought of it myself. Type out your text, highlight, then click the link icon and paste your URL in. When you hit ok, the highlighted text is now clickable with your link.

It was more recent than that.

Seriously, I appear to be right more often than I am because I think before posting and try to make it clear when I'm guessing or offering an opinion.

The reputation for infallibility bothers me, though, because I'm NOT infallible, I'm just better than many at choosing when to offer advice and when to remain silent.

Nah, I outgrew that reputation about 16,1120 posts ago when I could get rid of my "NOT a GURU!" signature line and replace it with the current one.

Wisdom is found in mountaintop caves containing wizened old men with long white beards who wear diapers -- i'm not quite that senile, yet.

"Wisdom" dispensed without self-deprecation probably isn't really "Wisdom."

On a serious note, I really am seriousy uncomfortable with the adoration and allegations of infallibility. I can learn to live with the adoration, but the allegations of infallibility put a LOT of pressure on me to try live up to an impossible image.
