New feature wanted: Total number of Threads

The Thread Depth metric is nice, but I'd also like to see a Thread Count metric as well. I think this is as important as the Depth of the story.

A depth of twenty could be just one set of twenty threads, or it could be twenty different sets of threads each to a depth of twenty. Thread Count would indicate this. In the first case, the count would be 20, whereas in the second it would be closer to 300-400.

This was on the old Chyoo site and I too would like to see it added back. I always enjoyed seeing that a story had 80 or 100 threads, not just how long one thread line was.

Man i wish there was a way to get in touch with manu to get him to implement some updates. Or get him to let ofhabit do it. :(

Um, he said himself that PM was the best way.

It would also be nice if new threads were indicted somehow so they could be identified by looking at the story map.

New ones within 24 hours of your last login are marked with a red dot, but it's a little inconspicuous.

I'm toying with the idea of a CSS or a Greasemonkey script to make the UI a little friendlier.

I think that if the "new thread" indication was based on the reader's last login time, and not on 24-hours since the thread was added, it would be more helpful.

You could also have a page that listed all the new threads since your last login.

I believe it's actually related to both -- something like, "threads modified within the same day as the last user login".

i think it would be better just to put a date on when the thread was last modified
