The Abstrusion family is pleased to announce we now have a bouncing baby ball python.
A beautiful 2ft lovely named Malaika. The name was bestowed on her/him by the lovely Nirvana since she's from African decent. ...the snake not Nirvana...well I mean....nevermind

anyhoo, she's beautiful and I'm claiming her.

Pics will follow soon, so be warned if you don't like snakes.

Abs, reptile mommy. :)

Happy Snake To You!

Wonderful news!

Standing by for pictures of the blessed bundle of constriction.

She's so TEEENIE!

I like snakes, they like me. I don't have them because cats talk more. But we do have a nice Black Indigo in our yard, chasing down unwanted rodents and bugs.

Bonus points to Reci for making me spit water with "blessed bundle of constriction."

Yessss!

*does the "I Made Jammies Laugh" dance*

Oh, how gorgeous... I haven't been near a python or a boa since Teardrop (a friend's rainbow boa) and I'm just entranced... SOOOOO pretty.

She is gorgeous!
She has a beautiful face, look at that eyeshadow :)

I am happy to see she has the classic coloring, too- those misty bronzes and shadow greens...

Just lovely, Abs, congrats!

Pretty snake! When I first read the name, I confused it with "malaka" which is Greek for "asshole."

Per the picture, I think what you have is a reticulated python. The reticulated python is not an native of Africa, but rather of southeast Asia. Depending upon the particular subspecies, a reticulated python can grow to 300 pounds in weight and a length of some 30 feet. A reticulated python eats meat. In the wild they prey upon pigs mostly and the occasional unwary deer. Oh yes, one other animal that they prey on: humans. I have had some experience with reticulated pythons in Southeast Asia. Unless you are very good with a machete, I would urge that you rethink your keeping of a reticulated python as a pet.

JMNTHO.

Wonderful. That should keep the faint-of-heart out of the bar.
