I asked for "G" and I'm going to write about Wearing o' the Green on Saint Patrick's Day. Shure and Begorrah.

Okay... the List

I will do my superstition and have it submitted by the 19th of June.

Counting 5 days from that point everyone that tells me that they are definitely going to write a story will be listed. Now in the past I have had people in another chain submit their stories early.... all you have to do at that point is put into the notes at the bottom that you are #blank in however many.....

example if you are supposed to be the 5th one then put something like:

Superstition Chain story chapter 5

Nothing says you cannot submit early but if you submit late... that is a BIGGGGG NO NO.

You referred to these as chapters. Deos that mean the parts are related or are they totally separate stories with the common thread running through them?

The common thread is that they all must have the superstitions within them. Much like the Zodiac Girls chain story that had each woman in the stories be of that sign.... each one of these 'chapters' must have the superstition within them. Lit will number them in chapter form... so it is easier to refer to them in that manner.

- between eleven and 12am on christmas eve water in stone jugs turns into wine
- a deterrent for evil, bad luck to throw any out of the house after nightfall
- never boil water that will be placed in a bedroom for washing or drinking
- spring water drawn at midnight on any Saint's Day is good for healing
- any girl that cannot help splashing herself with water will end up with a drunk for a husband

- crumble a piece over their heads for good luck
- each guest at the wedding brings a bun if the bride and groom can kiss over the top of the pile without disturbing any of them then they will have a long and happy life
- in the pacific islands eating the cake is the wedding ceremony

There is another one, more custom, maybe, than superstition. The bride and groom eat the top of the wedding cake on their first anniversary but I am unsure of the benefit to this, aside from getting indigestion.

- women are not allowed to spin because it will mean her child will hang
- women can not step over a grave because their babies will die prematurely

- sex at midday when the sun is the highest will produce a healthy baby
- women who drink from cracked cups will have children with hare-lip
- stepping over a cat will make a women give birth to a hermaphrodite

I should be able to finish mine today, do the final edit tomorrow and submit it by tomorrow (June 14) evening. I have to admit that I am stretching the notion of "superstition" a bit.
