In submitting my latest, I realized that a new category is needed for stories.

The story is about a rape fantasy. I submitted under non consent/reluctance, but it's really a role playing story.

Does anyone else think role playing should have its own category?

Depends. Some would consider extensive role play a fetish.

I think if it's clear that it's role-playing, it might go in Fetish. But a better category might be BDSM. And Reluctant/Non-consent wouldn't be a bad category considering the description is "Fantasies of control."

Actually they have a separate area for that on the forums called SEXUAL ROLE PLAY, and ROLE PLAY.

Not the same thing.

The story has *characters* role-playing.

The role-playing forums are for more than one *person* to participate and role-play. There's a difference.

So what this thread is trying to establish is this(?):

A new catagory for an author to write a story where two (or more) characters "pretend" to be someone/something else in order to act differently and get sexual gratification? In turn giving a sense of accomplishment to the author with the added bonus of being turned on knowing that the reader may possibly turned on by what the author wrote.

Much too confusing.

Instead the author should write a story about two ( or more) characters actually being what they were intended for.

Example

1.mary coming home with a nurses outfit to play with husband john.

2. John actually meeting a nurse named Mary at the hospital and they have sex on the way home.

Maybe it would be simpler if the Web site just reduced all of these categories to "Straight." Gay Male and Lesbian get only one overall category here each--and bi doesn't get any.

So what happens to all those "straight" stories where there is a little same sex sex??

I think if the same sex sex is FF, they will be tolerated in the straight categories; if it's MM, they certainly won't--you have to put them in GM and then still have some church lady who has no business reading in GM comment that they are in the wrong category.

But the point of my post is not to give too much sympathy to any lack of finetuning of all of the straight catetories available, since there's no finetuning in GM and lesbian at all--and not even one bi category here.

I am so with you on this one.
If two men so much as touch hands, the screams of macho rage leave your ears ringing.
If you let a gay man have an encounter with a woman in a gay story, you get dropped scores.
If your focus is lesbian, and there is a man in an episode, your scores fall into the basement.

My only solution is to add the rest of the information into the description field, I guess.

I kind of wish there were a 'queer' category, a place where the main assumption was that there were no assumptions, where the featured couple could hook up with other lovers either as a couple or on their own without incurring the wrath of the polyphobes, where the main character(s) might be bi, where lesbians can fuck men and gay guys can go down on women without outraging anyone who was expecting a straight gay story, etc.

Generally, a queering of monogamy and of the absolutes of a straight/gay divide.

Lit was never envisioned for anything other than the mainstream, though. And can you imagine the trollfest that a queer category would become? (Not that it would stop me, I'd probably repost almost everything I removed from lit.)

Polyphobes, what a great word!:rose:

You actually expect writers to do what they should?

I'd love to see a category where the sexes of the fornicators was not an issue. I like writing where the lines are blurred and the reader can be led up a certain path, only to find a different destination.

As far as I can figure, about the only categories you can do that in now are Celebrities, where you are hogtied by the need to include someone famous as a main character, and Letters and Transcripts, where you are constrained by the format (not that that stopped me :))

I did that here with a story and the Web editors screwed it up by putting it in a category (not of my choice) that determined it was about a specific sex--when it wasn't; it was designed to be taken more than one way. There was a nice conversation about that at the time (and it was favorably reviewed on the now-deceased story review thread).

And BDSM, to a certain extent.

An interesting side note:

I checked the submission status of the story today, and they made an interesting change to it.

The tagline for the story was "She has a rape fantasy"

Lit has changed that to "She has a ravishment fantasy"

I'm not upset about it, but I thought it was a bit odd.....................
