This is not for me particularly, but for all lit writers. We have a new category, erotic horror. Does anyone have any good ideas for horror that don't end in death for the main characters?

Here is some of what I was thinking:

x-files story or type story: scully and mulder get it on while investigating some paranormal phenomenon or other

silence of the lambs type: Clarise and Hanibble get caught up

"my hero" story: horror victim is rescued and shows grattitude

lover's curse: lover's are stalked by some kind of ghost or creature

sleaping with the enemy: abused partner escapes to find love, but is stalked by jealous ex

other ideas or embellishments?

also, what horror movies or stories are you a fan of?

I've submitted some stories to this catergory - unsure if they'll be allowed on the site - but I am hoping they will be. For a few years now I've written what my friends have called 'slasher porn' stories, and although I don't find them particularly scary. They do have horror elements in them (as well as people just finding them plain sick).

The first one I've submitted was Road Kill. This is about a girl who has a lust for death, but death with sex mixed in. It involves an introduction to how she got interested in this (through the death of an old boyfriend), has a gear stick sex scene in it, a nonconsent lesbian scene, with a perverse death scene directly after that.

The second story I submitted was Aftermath of Innocence, this story verges on fantasy as it takes place in a ritual. It involves no real straight sex, a lot of description of the woman's body, an oral sex/death scene then the end. It's fairly quick.

Thirdly, I put in Predator. Predator is about a girl trying to get the best sex, from a mysterious man. To do that she's got to kill people in inventive ways. There's a lesbian scene, necrophilia scene (which I think might stop it being put on the site) then another sex scene.

Lastly, I submitted the Huntress. Which is a kinda strange Slave story, with a girl bringing back victims to her master and mistress. It has a few sex scenes in it and a very odd death scene involving needles and the occult.

Anyways, away from my descriptions of my stories. The above were written for my site, and not for lit (and are available at my site if anyone wants a sneak preview, or if they don't get accepted for lit). I like the mix of sex and horror, but I do find you can't get normal sex scenes if it's going to work properly.

I realise I haven't really answered your question, and for that I apologise. I just loved the chance to talk about horror/sex stories.

A few suggestions would also be to go with the idea of a spooky/ghost story and not just straight out horror. Most of mine are gory/slasher horror.

If X Files was directly used, it would go into Celeb. And, I think, if a "basic idea" similar to X Files was used, it would go into Sci-Fi.

Some good examples of Horror/suspense would be King, Saul, and Rice. Though it would be unethical to "borrow" characters they've developed to write a story of your own. (Would it go into Celeb/fan-fic to write a "new" story about a Mayfair Witch or would it be a law suit?)

Many of the Horror movies of the 70s and 80s reek of sexuality. Just remember Randy's rules in Scream, though. The whore gets killed while the virgin lives on to fight another day. ;)

I think character borrowing usually goes in the category of fan-fiction, pet. At least, that's my thinking. I hope, as I've got a killer bit of fan-fic going in that vein, with a few Laurell K. Hamilton characters in the mix.

That's good to know! After I mentioned a Mayfair Witch I thought, "Hmmm, that's a good idea!" :D

Oooh :) Laurell K Hamilton is the Mistress of all erotic horror, her characters can't keep their kit on for more than few pages at the moment. After a good start with the lovely celibate Anita, the minute she got a taste of it back, she couldn't keep out of sexual situations.

I've just got the second Merry Gentry novel to read :)

I had submitted a story under this category a couple of days ago and I'm waiting for it to be approved.

It is called "Love Everlasting" and it entails an emotionally tormented young Irishman in midieval times that seems to have trouble leaving his lovers alive, that is until he meets a woman that is not what she seems.

I really like this category and I'm glad that they came up with it considering I feel most comfortable writing that sort of material.

I'm gonna be very found of this category by Halloween, I think...
Which sounds a good deal more mystical and exotic than mere fondness...

I just ment to use X files as an example that I figured everybody would understand. Also, it wouldn't necesarily have to go in sci-fi for 2 reasons. One is that lots of stories fit into more than one category, and two is that x-files isn't always strictly sci-fi at all. They've done shows about witchcraft, frankenstien, the dogman, living plants, religion, haunted houses, freaky families, living dolls, scary children ect Lotsa material there for horror.

Do we have a seperate fan-fic category on lit? I thought it went into celeb too.

That's quite all right.

Thanks for posting:)

Here's the exact description of the "Celebrities" category: Parodies & erotic fan fiction about famous people. (1396)

Seems pretty straightforward to me.

I have a question and I guess it would go back to what Crypy Mistress was saying about "Slasher" stuff.

When I think Horror, I think Freddy Krueger, Jason, Micheal Myers and Pumpkinhead.

As Obediantpet said these 80's movies had hints of sex, and in the case of the "Friday the 13th" movies they showed it if you could find and unedited version.

Would this kind of story work in story form?? There's a BIG difference between Ann Rice and Stephen King and the folks writing Friday the 13th.

I once read a horror novel called "Firefly" (I think.) I beleive it was by Dean Koontz. It was a great story and kept me reading and such all the way through. ONe of the best Erotic Horror stories I've seen. But I think it would be put under "Sci-fi" because the "monster" wasn't human.

Firefly was written by Piers Anthony. He is a Sci-Fi/Fantasy author and this was to be his first "horror" novel. And, though it's suspenseful, I'm not sure I'd call it horror. (Maybe if I read some of his Sci-Fi work I'd be able to see a difference?)

But, yet, it was a wonderful book. Very suspenseful and erotic.

Erotic Horror, finally accepted

This was the story I was talking about above.

Please remember if you decide to vote or send feedback, that this is my first attempt at this category.

Love Everlasting

Every summer, when it's hot outside, I sit up almost every night watching horror movies on TV, or read murder mysteries. It's not so scary in the summer, especially not here, where we have the midnight sun.

I wouldn't go near a horror movie in the winter time. Taking out the garbage at 5pm is scary enough.

I'll be writing my horror stories for this year's Survivor this summer. I've got it all planned out...

Types of horror

The thing is, there are alot of differant types of horror. Like I saw the movie Identity this weekend and .. OK took me til 3Am to fall asleep, but at the same time I can read Lovecraft and sleep like a baby, but to me Lovecraft is 'scarier'just not in a someone is gonna jump out and kill you way.

I also think maybe the less slasher type of horror lends itself to the erotic more.

In all honesty my first contribution to the horror catagory was submitted today so here's crossing fingers I got a good read on the catagory.

But what I'm trying in my incoherant way to say, horror doesn't have to be all death and shock. Oh the temptation to write something in a Lovecraft theme is geting stronger though ...

I only asked because someone seemed to be implying that celeb was the wrong category for fan-fic.
