Hi all, I’m BB, a new author on this forum and in general. I just wanted to say hi, introduce myself and look for some support from other authors. I also just wanted to say I’ve enjoyed reading stories here over the years, there’s so many talented authors here and I look forward to contributing my own work!

So, about me and my stories; I’m a gay author writing gay fantasy stories. Most of what I write have themes of incest, size difference, or power dynamics of some sort. So far, I’ve only released one story on this site, but I have others sitting idle and waiting to be worked on. “The dynamics of the bulls” is really the first story I’ve gotten pretty far on, and has been my main focus. I have a ton of chapters already written and have a story outline for what is to come. In general, I just really like the characters, and in general, once I get going, their story line just flows.

I guess what I’m looking for, is what is the best way to go from point A of a story, to point B? I keep hitting writers block and it’s tough to get past sometimes. For instance, I’m at a point in my story where one of the main characters, Connor, is getting ready to graduate. Realistically, I don’t have a ton of story line prepared until he goes to college. It would probably just be he and his dad, Jeff, having lots of sex, passion and little moments.

For the story, (trying not to give away too many details) is it better to just skimp over the summer part and jump write into the story line, or is it better to tell the story of all the sex they have over the summer in detail? I have some ideas for that, I just worry the story would get boring if I do, or that I’d hit another writers block.

The link to the story is below, so far I only have 2 chapters published, 1 is pending. However, I am currently writing chapter 15, so there is a ton to come!

It helps if you can decide what your story is about. That way, you can leave out anything that detracts from the focus.

Is it about hot sexy times, whether between Connor and Jeff or between others? Then write the summer episodes.
Is it about Connor's time at college? Then skip the summer. If you want, you can add flashbacks or memories so that it doesn't feel like a complete blank but doesn't bog the story down too much.

Write the bits that are relevant to the story you are telling. If nothing of interest that relates to the story happens over the summer, skip it.

One of the great advantages of the written medium is that you control the passage of time perfectly. You can dispense with literal years of in-story time in only a few sentences if you wish, and when there isn't much happening that is almost always the best thing to do.

Ask yourself whether describing anything in detail there would contribute to either the story or the character development. There are infinitely many hot scenes you could write for the sake of sex alone, but readers also have infinitely many other stories they could be reading instead if they are looking for something more than just raw sex.

Preparing to graduate and go off to college may be a red flag. Better to be graduated to remove any under 18 flags.

And if you want any early sex scenes, put them in the heat of summer. A last farewell from family and friends. A good summer sex scene at the start will hook readers to continue.

If you have ideas for great scenes, write them down in some order. Then look at how to connect them. And where they will finish. Change the order if you must. Connectors can just be a paragraph (happy to be starting college after a boring summer), or a whole chapter of wild beach sex.

There is no reason you can not skip over any part that you might be struggling with. It's very likely that if you skip to the college days, you will see the link back to the earlier scenes.

I have never written a story straight through. My general process is to get things started, then write at least a rough version of the ending, then work to connect them, either step by step in order, or by jumping from one scene to another as the mood strikes. Sometimes, if there is a subplot, I might write the whole complete subplot arc and piece it into the main story later.

Everyone develops their own process. Don't feel constrained in exploring what works for you.]

Good luck!

Write a blurb for your story. (The blurb is the description on the back cover or jacket flap that gives a teaser of the book.) By doing the blurb first, you'll sum up what you want your story to be about. It's a pain in the ass and a lot of authors hate blurb writing, but it can help keep the focus and stop you from wandering.

Thank you, all for the feedback and suggestions! I appreciate the suggestions and guidance. My issue is probably that I originally just went at this and didn't create an in depth story line for them till later on. Don't think i ever expected for this story to go as long as it has, but i just enjoy writing these two characters! I honestly don't even know if I have an ending in site for these two just yet, just situations that they will deal with and go through. It is definitely something i will have to think about.

For tis next chapter, though, I think what I might end up doing, is just summarizing their summer, not going into too many details but showing what they've delt with. At this point, all I've done is outline what would happen in those chapters, so hopefully it'd be easy enough to summarize those chapters, still make them hot, but not bore readers with sex scene after sex scene and mundane details.

I'll work through it and more will be shared soon! I still have a lot more to publish till that chapter anyhow.
