New author, a bit nervous

This is a new field for me. I have done a few horror-eroticas (horrortica?) which can be found in a comlpetely different venue: www.horrolibrary.net. Now I am learning how Literotica works.

I am astonished at rapidly things move around here. One full day I have garnered 1809 views, one post and one anonymous e-mail. This pretty much exceeds the last 6 months of my horror writing on the web, and perhaps as many "reads" as when I sell a story to a 'zine.

I submitted blind in the submissions section, and took a risk that I would be accepted, since I don't yet even know how to pick an editor.

Anyway, thank you for reading this post. If you can offer any words of advice, suggestions or just help me learn some of the ropes, I'd appreciate it.

When it comes to advice I'm no good but I am good at saying hello. So,

Hello Chris and Welcome to the AH!!!

Salutations, Chris, and welcome aboard! I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the viewship and feedback. Lit is a gem of a site, and I've enjoyed every minute on it.

Hello Chris,

Welcome to the AH! :)

Luck,

Yui

Hey Chris,

Nice to see a new face around the AH. We're glad you're here. In addition to the Newbie Support Forum, you should look at the Earth Day Contest Support thread and consider entering. It's a lot of fun and a great way to get to know other authors.

Welcome!

Welcome Chris. You'll like this place.

More good vibes and support you couldn't ask for.

As you have divined, it is a community here, in some ways. Optional; feel free to ignore us, and no hard feelings. But we help one another. Black Shanglan currently has a story in peer review at the Story Discussion Circle thing. Browse that discussion and you'll see what I mean. It's a useful place, Lit. Welcome to it. Do announce when the story's posted, or post a link if it is already.

If you don't really need an editor, you're probably better off without one.

And yes, you'll find you get a hell of a lot of views here and a fair number of comments. Overall, your votes will usually be about 0.1-0.5% of your views.

People here on the boards are invariably helpful. If you want any kind of help or opinion on a story, just ask. Someone will usually volunteer to help you out, whether it's information on rigging in an eighteenth century British warship, or how to fix a clumsy opening sentence.

Look out for the "Loving Wives" category. This actually refers to Cheating Wives, although no one knows why, and the people who read in this category can get very nasty.

And welcome to Literotica.

Heya Chris. Welcome to the AH; I hope you learn as much from here as I have.

The best advice I can give you is to read most of the articles/stories in the Writer's Resources section. Some of the better authors on Lit have put some very apposite advice down there and it's something I'd recommend every author to read.

Enjoy your stay,

The Earl

Hello and welcome from me too! You've gotten some great advice here already! Basically all I can add is if in doubt ask, even if you think it's a dumb question'cos believe me we've all asked those questions before!

Welcome to the AH,make yourself at home, the natives are friendly and some of the most imaginitive and interesting people I know :)

'Loving Wives' Boy can they ever get nasty! Kind of makes me want to submit more to it though!

Oh, sorry. Hi EL, didn't see you up there. Trust the weekend went ok. I am over my little jaunt with the Stella yesterday, and I've recovered from the... erm... dancing. :rose:

Hi Chris, welcome to Lit, and the AH! :rose:

You write erotic horror, eh? Cool. Off to check out the other site you mentioned...
