New, and wondering about an idea.

Does anyone know, for certain, what classifies as "Erotic Horror?" And where the cutoff point between erotic horror and flat out horror is as far as Literotica is concerned?

I have an idea for a story... but it involves abduction, imprisonment, and a slow conditioning of a mind and heart and body to respond as the captor sees fit. There's some mild bloodplay, some definite bondage, and a good bit of mental and emotional abuse.

Should I even bother writing it for submission to Literotica, or just take it somewhere else?

That story would probably fall under BDSM to be perfectly honest with you as long as you weren't involving fantasy monsters. Even if you were I would probably suggest against going with horror unless it was you were using the fantasy creature as a monster. A vampire who barely ever drinks blood and uses none of his powers might as well be Brad Pitt instead of Lestat you know?

As for where they draw the line it seems to be on a case by case basis but the rule of thumb is that if the story is considerably more blood guts and gore then they will nix it. Course I've written four stories that were damn near all blood and guts and got through. So the only thing you can really do is post and see if they kick it back.

It's more "Phantasmagoria" than "Phantom of the Opera" which was why I was looking at the Erotic Horror guidelines.. I've skimmed through BDSM, and have yet to see -anything- relating to bloodplay (flechettes come into play as punishment at one point) in that section, but it shows up in various forms in Erotic Horror.

Guess I'll just have to finish writing it, have it beta-read, and then see.

the erotic horror cat is pretty flexible. How much is too much? Only the site operators can say for sure and I suspect it varries with them. Best advice is write it, edit and submit it. If it's too extreme, they will tell you what tok it over the line and you can redit accordingly or post to a site with less refined tastes.
