Hi and welcome!

Firstly, don't worry about your avatar yet. You need 100 posts before you can get one and when the time comes we can help!

Secondly, unless a thread is marked 'closed' or private, you're usually more than welcome to join in. I would suggest posting in some of the more light hearted threads here in the Lounge in order to get to know people from the SRP board. The 'Last Thing You Thought', 'Song of the Day' threads etc.

'The Outlook' is especially good for meeting people! And there is also the aptly named 'Introduce Yourself' where you can say a little something about yourself - which I see you've already found!

There is also the bi-monthly writing challenge which is a good opportunity to show off your writing style to potential partners and exercise the old grey matter!

The girls are right with their suggestions. Open social places tend to sound that way...there's Inns and clubs and so forth.
If you aren't sure, its usually easy to tell if you scan the posts (though sometimes a 'public' area can seem like it should be private at that moment).

Barring there being a scene, you should feel free to chime in. If your post is inappropriate for the thread, someone will tell you, nicely. So no worries, we all had to learn
