Never Let a Crisis go to Waste

The stock market is going to take another dive this morning.

Five Republican Senators are sick and self-isolating.

Rather than halt the collapse of the economy,
Democrats are cynically using this opportunity
to advance a Social Justice agenda that has
nothing to do with the immediate economic
effects of the "pandemic."

I know some of you think this is a pretty sweet maneuver...

:(

... the rest of us still have some holdings in the stock market
and are vested in the well-being and health of the economy.

In the short-term, will the economy be allowed to recover?

I don't think so. This shut down gambit begs one important question:

"When the government decided to shut everything down, destroy the economy, people's businesses and lives, did they present an exit strategy?"
I still say that this is about the elites, the ruling class (as per the writings of Angelo Codevilla), and the power hungry that feels born, booted and spurred to ride the rest of us, the deplorables...

A failed economy gives them the power they crave
and gives the illusion of truth that Capitalism
(and Trump) failed us.

This and later pandemics will nudge many nations a little bit more towards more sustainable local economy and less international trade.

Well, I can see a new understanding of what it means
to put all of your eggs in a basket "Made in China."

;) ;)

I mentioned that in another thread. Supply chain vulnerability. This is a case where the European nations relying on the VAT tax is going to bite them in the ass.

Everything bites the EU in the ass.
An example we should have paid attention to
when it comes to letting "expert" politicians
(and their financial backers) call the shots.
We would not have shot our economy in the foot.

Let's be a little more honest about taking advantage of a crisis:

Similar to the last crisis, it's all a matter of which economic philosophy will get bailed out!

There are the mega-centralized stock/financial markets that had become overvalued and are largely based on the pyramid scheme of infinite growth on a finite planet, and then there is a movement toward sustainability, including local production of food, local community/culture building, appreciation of the natural ecosystems that support all life on this planet, and decreased emphasis on accumulating ridiculous amounts of material wealth.

Don't give me this crap about the former group being the hapless victims of a crisis. That greed-is-good approach led to most people being unprepared for a pandemic.

"Never let a crisis go to waste" indeed.
Notice how the housesquaw is using this crisis as a soapbox to denigrate environmentalists.

If there's one silver lining in the coronavirus cloud, it's that the virus embiggens the mortality rate of people in the Housesquaw's demographic (over 60, obese, history of heart problems, diabetic).

Except the Democrats are not offering economic relief in their
politics intransigence; they are fighting instead for
long longed-for social outcomes...

Not true at all. More of your "never let a crisis go to waste" rhetoric, this time bashing Democtrats for positions you ascribe to them.

That's a very cute little theory that conveniently serves to reverse the roles on who got carried away with greed.

Next, tell us that the impeached President will be re-elected with a landslide popular vote.

Democrats still believe that most Americans after finally enjoying full employment and rising wages are eager for ever more generous unemployed benefits

And speaking of the Chief's 'long desired social outcomes" did you hear the governor of Ohio unilaterally declared abortion to be a "non-essential" procedure and banned them "temporarily"?

And, Chucker has his own set of "long longed-for social outcomes".

What's wrong with that? It's no big deal, right?. . . It's "just cells" to remove. No different than your liposuction or your excised skin from your abdominoplasty.

Rising wages for whom? Keeping pace with what?

Red herring. The abortion issue is sole morality shield left in the Deplorable arsenal. Many Democrats do everything they can to avoid the need for abortion.

The real social agenda of Deplorables has to do with wealth and power distribution.

You and Throb (Robert) are proving my point that politics is what is driving you.

Me? predict Trump in a landslide?
I was one of those saying that there was no way that he could win
and I'm not about to start predicting what happens to him at this late date.

And you still cannot address my basal premise,
that to the Democrat leadership, now is the time
to strike, when the elected minority becomes
an artificial majority during a time of "crisis."

These lefty loons won't be happy until we all have to stand in breadlines or until we have a total financial collapse and businesses big and small are wiped out. When this economic downturn all started it wasn't due to economic, fiscal or employment issues, we were at full employment and humming on all cylinders. It's about a virus! Some of these lunes just don't understand how an economy works. Chuck and Nancy at it again. They think big business is evil, I just can't wrap my head around that kind of thinking.

Deplorables don't like it when political leverage is not in their favor.

Ok, I addressed that "premise".

*chuckle*

We just want to redistribute the wealth.
DON'T YOU DARE CALL US SOCIALISTS!

Can you provide us the ostensibly lengthy list of elected pro-life Democrats
currently serving in Washington DC.
And who do you have more of in your party,
pro-lifers or abortion on demand even up to the moment of birth?

;) ;)

Don't try to sugar-coat a shit donut.

No. You issued a pejorative and then you offered an ascription.
I don't like any of this, I never advocated for any of it
anymore than I acted as a "deplorable" advocating
for the election of President Trump.

That still does not get to the point,
it is a deflection...

I advanced earlier that they would love a Depression,
a population dependent upon government largess and an
opportunity (this I am adding) to win an election during
a time of manufactured duress and go full FDR including
packing the courts with cronies willing to do their bidding.

The breadlines are already there, but now even the wealthy are freaking out. A Fed officer stated on 60 Minutes yesterday that one guy went into a bank to withdraw over half a million in cash (paper).

No one is happy with the situation.

You can't wrap your head around a lot of things.
