Time for Sam Houston to go. He owned slaves.
This isn't new.
Back in 1821 my ancestor bought a slave to save her from sale 'down the river; to the Louisiana sugar cane plantations. She cost my ancestor $300, which was almost 3 years wages for most people then. John Johnson freed her the same day, almost the same hour, and never got his $300 from her or her husband. John was a Methodist preacher and charged with slave ownership by the Church. There was a trial.
At the trial John said I DID GOOD and that's all he said.
