Editors: Editor Wanted.. Romance

I've got a rather brief story (1300ish words) that I'd like to get someone to take a gander at for me. If all goes well, this will be the beginning of a longer story. It is still in the early stages, but I like what I've got so far. The basis is the first face-to-face meeting with a woman he's only known over the phone for some time, and their first kiss.

Any and all feedback would be appreciated.

It's not posted yet. I want to get some feedback on it first, and get some proofreading/editing done. I'd be happy to send it to you, though.

story

I haven't posted it anywhere, I'm still looking for an editor. Id you like I can email it to you to go over.

literoty and tazgirl415:

As you are new here, I'll explain how this works.

1 Someone wants to find an editor so they advertise on here, as The_Black_Knight did.

2 An editor who is willing to take on this story, as described, sends an email or a private message to the author indicating where they can be contacted.

3 The author sends them the document to be edited.

4 The process continues from there, with correspondence now having been established, in whatever way the happy couple (author-and-victim or editor-and-victim depending on your point of view) wish it to proceed.

This is somewhat difficult for The_Black_Knight in this case, because literoty will not accept emails, and tazgirl415 will not accept emails or private messages.

If you are going to edit, the author will need to communicate with you, and most authors are reluctant to post complete stories before they have been edited.

Moreover, these stories should not be posted on this (or any other) forum without having first received the Lit owners' approval, which most authors don't seek before their stories have been edited.

I think what you two have offered is called "Catch 22".

I have nothing but great things to say about Snooper, but I offer a different perspective.

What I have been doing lately is posting in the forum essentially saying "I have this one" and then PMing the writer. This is my way of indicating to other editors that I have agreed to take the writer on to all the other editors and that they can assist others. This savs the time of others from PMing only to receive "I already have an editor" message.

However, all Snooper says is valid. I had no intention of invalidating his comments, merely adding in a little to be helpful.

Hoping I haven't stepped on any toes ???

Just came back across this

I do accept emails and private messages...yeah...and those settings have been the same since I got on here...I don't check often, so that's my bad...

I'LL take a look at your story. *manly music*

Mr. Blackknight, shoot me a Private Message and I'll reply with my e-mail address, and we'll go from there. :)

Do you think this story will still be available for editing after almost two years?
This leads to my questioning, shouldn't the authors come in and close the topics when the subject is finished?
Or do we just ignore it and let it go to "graveyard"?
I'm not trying to be sarcastic or obnoxious or anything, I just sincerely want to know

Oops, didn't look at the date! Ha! Silly me. :D

And I suppose the authors would come in and close the topic... If this board allowed authors to do that. I believe that moderators are the only people with the power to close a thread--or perhaps that function isn't supported here, or disabled. In the meanwhile, we just ignore it. (Or don't, if you're me.)
