Basically a year ago I lost my Grandfather, at his "goodbye" service we had a couple of poems read by the Salvation Army (who conducted the service) and I would like to try and find them as they are special to me.

I have searched the web every way I know how and still can't find them so I have come to you all to see if anyone out there can help me locate a copy...

The first one was called "Stab's of Remembrance" but I know nothing more about it really - it was a conversation between a woman and "god" say how the little stabs of remembrance hurt the most...

The other one is an old one, possibly from one of the WW's - and I can only remember one line... "do not stand by my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep..."

If any of you can help I would be very grateful!

Thanx

I'm not familiar with the poem ... but

I just wanted to say "Good Morning, Viv"

Do not stand at my grave and weep.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die….

The first one I don't know, but I think the second one might be Mary Frye (1932), turned into a song by someone called Bunner.

Before you get too impressed, I found that in a search -- never heard of either of those people before. If you type the line you remember from the Frye poem into google in quotation marks, you get lots of hits with the text of the poem. The first one, the stabs of remembrance I couldn't find.

Good luck!

She read it from a book, but I was too upset to concentrate on what the book was called... I tried to find out from them but the lady was away on hol and they never got back to me..

hope you are doing ok, bearing in mind the date today.

Thinking about you, love always

Thanx babe, and yeah I am ok...

Just keeping myself busy in here so I don't think about it too much!
