Need help from someone familiar with female clothing

(Not sure if this is the right place for it)

I'm planning a story with many scenes that involve clothes. I'm trying to write realistically, but don't know the details of female clothing, so I need help. Sometimes the details are google-able, but other times they're not. Examples of things I need help with:

- How long does it take for a woman to take off her bra with the rest of her clothes on? This is obviously going to depend on what the rest of the clothes are and probably what type of bra it is; the most helpful answer would give the range (if you wear [this] then it can be done in five seconds, if you wear [this] then it can take 20s, etc).

- This webpage gives ten different bras to wear with a backless dress

Literotica is not a place to promote other websites

I'm assuming they all work. What makes a woman choose one option instead of another? What are the relative pros and cons of each?
- This webpage has an image for how lingerie tape is used

Literotica is not a place to promote other websites

It shows tape being applied from the bottom of a breast to the shoulders. Is this the standard way to use tape? Does properly applied tape effectively cover the breast entirely with such strips?
- What does it feel like to wear lingerie tape? Should I say it feels hot? Tight? Not noticeable unless one thinks about it?
- For so-and-so scene, did I pick an appropriate heel height? What about bust size?

As of time of writing the story is over 5k words long, but future scenes still need to be planned. Not everything I ask about will end up in the story. At this point in the writing a Q&A thread is fine, but eventually I would prefer if someone can proofread the story for realism.

- Shirt or dress with short sleeves/straps is just seconds work. Hands behind your back, unclasp, slide one hand up my arm and slide the bra strap down, repeat on the other side, then reach under the shirt and pull the bra from the front. Indeed, 5 seconds sounds accurate.
Long sleeves... If the sleeves are loose, it's similar and takes just a few seconds longer, say 10. Tight sleeves? I will have to take my arms out of the sleeves (leave the shirt dangling around my neck), take off the bra and put the shirt back on, good 20/30 seconds I guess (tight dress will take longer than a short shirt).

- 2, 4 or 6. I have larger boobs and in good company I can't go out without a bra. Any of the other options would NOT feel like a bra. Honestly, if I wear a beautiful dress, stuff it if some of my bra is visible. I prefer to be able to walk without my nipples poking my eyes out as I bounce down a set of stairs than worry about "oh shit, someone sees that bra strap".

- No experience.

- Heels vary for all women I think. I personally wear heels very often. 2 to 3 inch is normal and I can do almost anything one does with normal shoes, with 2 on the flat side. 4 to 5 inches are "these are pretty shoes, I can stand in them for a while or walk short distances, not run a marathon or play soccer". Over 5 inches is "I need to hold someone if I need to walk from the car to my seat in the restaurant".
But I've heard women complain about 3 inches and broken ankles.

Thanks, this means:

1) I can't write that most women know how to use lingerie tape, and
2) If I want to write that a woman walks so fast her heart rate goes up, I can't put her in >3 inch heels.

^ Well, busted ~~

Does anyone know about the tape questions in the OP, plus this one: how much tape is necessary per usage? I'm guessing about 1m (?) but the rolls of tape I can find via Google seem to have a standard length of 10m, in which case 1m/use seems pretty huge.

Also, anyone know why waterfall skirts (these are skirts with the hemline on one side much higher than the other) are so rare, especially the kind that is waterfall left/right as opposed to front/back?

so you asked how long it takes for a woman to take off her bra. i googled "Remove Bra without Taking off Tops" and found a 30 minute compilation of woman after woman doing exactly that.

In a variety of different clothes? I'd be interested in seeing that video then, what's the title?

EDIT: Thanks, turns out sorting by length suffices. I think I found it and will watch more of it later. Text works better for this though since one knows more about the assumptions - the first woman for example didn't seem like she was doing it very urgently.

Put several hundred words into a new scene and then I think I made a critical mistake about tape. It seems there are two kinds. The first kind (and the kind alluded to in the OP) is single-sided and comes in rolls. It is meant to be applied from the bottom of the breast to the shoulder, and are only to keep the breasts in place. It appears to be more suitable to tops with deep v-necks, and for heavy-duty use (e.g. in hot weather). The other kind is double-sided and comes in individual strips. It is mainly applied to close gaps in clothing.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct? If so, what's stopping the double-sided tape from also doing what the first tape does (i.e. keep breasts in place)?

For example, with the typical strapless dress, single-sided tape can be applied as a bandeau and the dress worn on top. Equally, double-sided tape can be applied at the top of the dress, fixing the skin to the fabric. Is there a difference between the two?

I think you might get more help faster on the general or the how-to boards. You might mention lingerie tape in the subject header to narrow it down for viewers.

I have worn bras for decades, but never messed with lingerie tape. Too much fuss, and I worried it would hurt coming off!

Good luck with your story.

Tape doesn’t work the way it seems you’re thinking it does. Commercially bought breast tape can help a woman with very small breasts, such as a AA cup. Anything larger, and tape is largely useless. Most women who successfully use a tape product for breast tissue support use the “Kardashian” method and use gaffer tape or duct tape. I personally use duck brand duct tape. To remove tape, I personally use olive or jojoba oil.

Thanks for answers. Story is making progress, slowly, but making progress. I considered asking on the How To board but my questions don't seem like 'How to" questions ...

New question: I clearly can't assume that most women are familiar with lingerie tape, but can I assume that most mothers will know what bra sizes their daughters wear (up till age 18 or whenever their daughters become independent, at least)?

Edit: looks like the answer is "yes": not every mother will know, but most will learn when they go shopping, or when they do the laundry.

No questions for now!

I can assume that it's a story with some hot scenes in it if you're paying attention to so many details. Indeed, it depends on the women clothing, how long it takes to get rid of the bra, but not more than five sec for me, I hate bras. I've tried tape as well, but it's too sticky and feels too hot during the summertime, so I prefer to let the ladies out. You can say so in your story, I think it will add a bit more passion to the scene, and who said that every woman should wear a bra? I'd love to see the finished result, so please share it with us when it's done.
