I agree on those points.
And the Mayfair Witches links into the Vampire Chronicles after a bit so there's two really good series right there.

Also, where King is concerned, there's a nice, short book he did that frequently gets over looked "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon". I enjoyed it.

wonder why they insist on butcherin his stuff
Cuz they're twisted fuckwits who don't understand that it takes a special mind to be able to translate his work into a celluoid medium.:(

I think Quentin Tarrantino should direct some of King's stuff

My favorite movie of all time was based on a Stephen King story. The Shawshank Redemption (Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption) Though I think that's more of an exception.

Other notable exceptions:
Stand By Me (The Body)
The Green Mile

and I thought the adaptaion of Misery was pretty good, but not as good as the book.

Also The Running Man is pure cheesey fun. Schwarzengger in his prime, bad one liners and all and Richard Dawson as an evil gameshow host, what's not to love?

I watched that film all the way through cause I wanted to see David Schwimmer get shot. It's the moment of the entire story, where the kid has no place left to run, no lies left to tell and just gives into his nihilistic sadism. It is the fucking moment and the filmmakers decided they didn't want to put it in and put some bullshit about sexual harrassment in there. The kid tells one more lie and gets away scott free!

It misses the point of the entire story, goddammit!

The Earl

Damn - you ARE a fucker! ;) Stephan King has long ago gone the way of director Ron Howard (upcoming DaVinci movie) ... nice to look at, but not too deep or intersting. We read or watch anyhow.

(I love making titles)

So, I read Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" Series... and so did my girl. And, four months later, I've gone through most of his best known novels and am starting to get burned on it.

Aside from
Salem's Lot
Desperation
The Regulaters
Needful Things
IT
The Stand
Insomnia
The Talisman
Black House
Hearts in Atlantis
The Tommyknockers
Night Shift
Christine
Carrie
Pet Cemetary
and Eyes of the Dragon

Does he have any OTHER good books anyone's read? I haven't tried "The Cell" or "Everything's Eventual" or "From a Buick 8" yet.

And then, past that... any other good book series' out there?

The Green Mile, yes, that's good, too, and the movie they made from it wasn't bad.

I thought the movie Cat's Eye was interesting. Thanks for reminding me, Tony. ;)
