Need for ANOTHER new category?

With the new Sci-fi category being set up, I just thought I'd throw my virgin hat into the ring and request a 'Sex in the workplace' category.

I recently submitted a story that would have fitted into this category http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=20622 (shameless plug time, sorry!) but I had to categorise it in erotic couplings instead. Nothing wrong with EC but I find it too broad and wouldn't often go looking in there for stories myself.

I'd say just about everyone has lusted after someone they worked with at some stage, so what better way to 'ease your frustrations' then by coming home, and logging straight into the 'sex in the workplace' category for some much needed relief ;-)

I know it's a category I'd go to, and I'm sure there are plenty of stories currently in other categories that may be better suited to the 'workplace' category.

Anybody agree?

Hiya Phil :)

I think there are getting to be too many categories already, actually. We can't have a separate category for every specific set of circumstances, now can we? I like the EC category just fine the way it is.

boo

I don't know...I think he's actually got a great point. Most people who come here looking for erotic stories are looking for something of a particular genre. I know I do, which is why I try to stray from writing in solely one category.

To avoid any further deviation, can anyone honestly tell me that if they're looking for something specific they'd be willing to look through some twenty five hundred some odd stories?

That's what those one to five reference words are for when you submit. Choose them well, and it's easier for a reader to access a sub-category. If you put a story in incest, and it deals with uncles and neices rather than mom and son, then put it in those words, as well as the description. This is marketing. Put a description in the feedback section of the boards as well. Correctly using the functions currently available on Lit will help eliminate the need for millions of categories.

I still reckon, the sex in the workplace category is as deserving as some other categories.

Sally (Hey babe! How you keeping? :) ) said she thought there were too many categories already. This is a fair point, but the Sci-fi's are getting their own category so I thought I'd make my suggestion. I'd almost guarantee there are more 'work' stories than 'Sci-fi' ones on the site, and I think I can remember Laurel saying that if a genre gets enough stories to branch out into it's own category then she would look at it.

Sci-fi pretty much had it's own category in the 'non-human' section (besides, what's now left in 'non-human'? ... sex with furniture? ;-) ), whereas I feel 'erotic couplings' is too broad to contain a sub genre as large as 'sex at work'.

I'm not losing sleep over this, but I do feel the category would be popular, so just wanted to make my point.

Exactly. Most readers use the Search function when they're looking for something specific. Those key words you put in that line get top priority in the search.

Every new category we add is added after much thought. We don't randomly add new categories, and when we do add them, we try to keep in mind our readers and our writers as well as the flow of the site. We want the categories to be broad enough to encompass more than 5 stories, and to be something that people are looking for.

The Sci-Fi/Fantasy category is something we feel would work well as a separate category because there are many fans of the genre. Most major bookstores carry a separate Sci-Fi/Fantasy category, and there are many writers who write exclusive Sci-Fi/Fantasy erotica, so it makes sense. It's a broad enough category, yet it has a theme.

We'll start the category as soon as we have 25 suggestions on this thread, so keep em coming!

Hum. Yes. Well, I suppose you could say sci-fi/fantasy would contain sci-fi/fantasy, and non-human could be exactly what it says, sex with anyone not of a human persuasion (dogs? cats? trees? etc.). Do you know how annoying it is to search through stories looking for something haunting that will take us away from the real world, only to find stuff about the family pet? (Sorry, folks, that's one category that just doesn't get my attention. It's a personal thing, I suppose.)

However, Laurel, I don't know about even keeping the non-human category if you go with a sci-fi/fantasy category. Perhaps put what's left into the fetishes category (I'd consider having sex with a tree or dog a fetish.)

Include vampires and ghosts and all that into the fantasy realm, so that would probably give you quite a few stories to transfer over.

Just a suggestion. ;)

Thanks Laurel. Can't get fairer than that. I don't hold out too much hope about getting 25 in favour but stranger things have happened, so put me down as number 1! :)
