Welcome to the EF Jack,

I'm sure someone will answer you but I think it would be a good idea in the meantime if you gave us a bit more details as to what genre you're writing, what kind of editing you're needing, what you're expecting from an editor etc...

thanks lady cibelle

See?

Even my thread needs editing/guidance! (kidding)

Thanks, I should let on more about what I'm seeking.

I've had a couple of stories posted by Lit., and I have several more I've worked on.

I want to improve and want to keep with the idea of forbidden or taboo themes.

I really would appreciate a female's perspective and some constructive feedback for these rough ideas I've already undertaken. The ones in draft are similar in tone and/or theme to the ones Lit. has been kind enough to post.

Hopefully, this helps. ...

I've never edited on Lit... but I did intern at a magazine last summer, where I did some editing (copy editing)... plus, I edit a lot of my friends papers (for University) and short stories. :)

Plus, I'm a female. I'd more than willing to help, if you are willing to take on a "new" editor.

If you are still in need of editing assistance, I have been editing for about a year now here on Lit and would love to help you out. If you found someone, good luck to you both . . . smiles.

<pinching lips shut>

That wasn't intended to detract from the previous offers of assistance. It's more of an "in" joke between LadyC and myself. I seem to have a tendency to offer more help than I have the time to provide, as I'm finding out.

Want to speed up the process? Just discard all even-numbered pages and strike all adverbs, adjectives and nouns that contain more than two vowels.

Hmm, what the heck are nouns, adverbs, etc. ???

I recognize spelling errors, misuse of words based on how they sound, etc. Now you're talking specifics about writing that I never learned. LadyC, hide your eyes. That's why I bill myself as a mediocre editor but a kick-ass mentor. I can rewrite sentences, etc.I have a "knack" for it.

I write well enough to get subs posted, which is all our aim.

I'm acting a little more "ignorant" than I really am. I know the basics. Just don't add 'prepositions' into the mix.

And now for gerunds...

Seriously, fully functional editing is the best kind. I once had an intern who got so "technical" with her margin notes that the other editors needed reference books to decipher what she was saying.

You guys (CopyCarver and Asylum Seeker) are making me laugh.....did I tell you lately that I love you profusely both of you?

Both for different reason you bring a smile to my lips whenever I see your names......okay enough for the mushiness now. :p

Not laughing at you sweetie, never laughing at you. I'm laughing with you, laughing because you're silly and funny and sweet.

I've been reminded today that life is nothing without the people you love in it and that it's important to tell them what they mean to you. :rose:
