Need Computer Advice Help

Am having trouble with computer . A box keeps popping up saing MS Security Centre etc and my home page has been changed. I have virus protection from Bigpond but this didnt stop thnis situation . Can any one suggest any ideas . I have tried add and delete programmes but it wont let me do that either . Any help much appreciated - thanks

try downloading spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html. Sam uses that on our pc, among others. that mght help.

Proper antivirus

Antivirus software is rapidly becoming less and less effective, for a number of reasons I won't go into here.
Probably you've got a trojan on your computer that was specifically written to get around the big antivirus software packages (Norton, McAfee, and Trend) that hijacks various things on your system.
By the looks of it, Bigpond uses McAfee for their antivirus software. I've fixed dozens of machines in the last couple of weeks that were infected with various bugs, none of which were detected by antivirus installed on the machine, and most of them were running McAfee. Although there were a couple of Norton ones in there, too.

A free online scanner from Trend Micro (much better than their full software suite.)

Uninstall your BigPond antivirus, and download the free home version of Avast:
