Need an opinion...

I need an opinion on a thing I'm writing...never written anything before, but I thought I might try. The thing is, I need someone to give me their opinion on it as I have no idea if it's good, semi good, bad or beyond crap. I've only been a member for a couple of days (I was curious) and I thought it might be fun to write something myself.

How does one go about sending a short story to someone? Or should I just post it here and let you have a go at it?

If it's fairly short (~3000 words or so) you can probably just copy & paste it in a PM. Longer than that, then I'd get their email address and sned it as an email attachment.

How long is it? I've got a story I'm trying to avoid writing.

It's...hold on....less than 3000 words. It's not finished you see, I just started writing it and before I go further I want to know if I'm wasting my time.

So PM eh? How does one go about sending a PM if someone says "I'll read that for you"?

Welcome to the hangout. I have no good answer for you, I just wanted to take the opportunity to show off the only thing I know in Icelandic.

Best hint would be to read a random sample sollection of stories from here and see how you think yours would hold up. If you just want a short glance at language and such things, I could take a look at it.

Actually, when it comes to grammar and spelling I'm good, I've got a BA in English Literature.

I've read some of the stuff on here, and that's just the thing: I don't know if my stuff IS good enough but I need a second opinion to be sure.

The only way to be sure whether it is good enough is to submit it, get it accepted - and it will be if the spelling and grammar are reasonable and it doesn't break the rules by showing underage sex - allowing voting and public comments and waiting...

The responses may hurt. Lack of response will hurt even more.

PM it to me. Right-click on my name and you can PM me. Then you can copy & paste the story into the PM.

You might want to check the options in your User CP to see if you've disabled PM and email too. In fact, I know you have your email option disabled.
