Need an Editor/Mentor!!!

I submitted a story on the forums and pretty much it got not exactly rave reviews, however I did get some good comments. Now I think I am a little gun shy about posting a story.

Anyone want to be my mentor? I can think of several topics to write about, plus I need to know about how many words is acceptable here.

You might get a better response if you specify the genre of your story, the help you feel you need (e.g. grammar only, grammar and continuity, etc.), and its length (in words) as these factors play a large part in a volunteer editor's decision whether to offer help.

Acceptable length on here is more than 750 words. I know of at least one story which runs to more than 100,000 words.
