Need a "clean" PHP BBS allowing attachments

I'm trying to report a bug in the Firefox (son of firebird, phoenix and mozilla) browser.

When I click on a link to a graphic, firefox

1) wants to open the thing using the windows designated viewing program, and

2) keeps asking whether to open the graphic or save it to disk, even though the "do this for every file of this type" option is enabled.

While I'm sure the developers might enjoy it if I gave them a sample URL of some "Amateur pic feedback" thread, it might keep them from getting thier work done...

So I'm looking for a BBS like this one, run by PHP scripts, that handles a vanilla subject. I will create a post there with an attachement of a cartoon instead of something more delectable, and use it as the example in the bug report.

Can anyone point me to such a system?

The ones I hang out on which allow attachments are the non vanilla Literotica ilk....

Thanks!

Have you installed and tried the Used agent switcher for Mozilla/Firefox yet?
D/L that a give that a shot first and see if that doesn't help ya out.
For whatever reason, this forum never used to give me troubles before until about 2-3 weeks ago, then all of a sudden I started to get random occurrences of this same situation. I just leave the UA switcher at default unless I have troulbles, then I move it to IE6 XP, then eveything is OK (for me anyway)
Otherwise, here's a good forum to post your problem to, there's quite a few mozzilians in there: http://worldstart.com/forums/

What you're implicitly suggesting is that we must look at the page content of what Lit is sending when we click a link, and then figure out how Firefox is making a wrong turn.

Unfortunatly, I don't have an easy way, short of line tracing, to see EVERYTHING Lit is sending back. View Page source is VERY thin!

\<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">\<html>\<head>\<title>\</title>\</head> \<\body>\</body>\</html>

(note my insertions of backslashs to try and stop the htm from causing problems--none were in the returned string)

is what I get back, but I know there is more information. Otherwise, what got the download manager started downloading the graphic?

So the real problem may be the PHP page isn't to spec, and Firefox is having trouble.

Changing the user agent also suggests this.

OTHO, IE doesn't, and that's become the gold standard no matter what WWW says....

I haven't a clue as to what most of what you just said there :D

Alls I know is when I need to, I switch that setting from default to IE6 and it works 98% of the time for me. Just like tonight when you posted both of those 2 pics, the jpg, and the .gif, At first I got that prompt so I switched it, hit refresh, then clicked on both of those attachments and then they opened in new windows just like they should.

This is bug 236451 - "do this automatically for files like this" doesn't always work with php scripts"

I'm working on another report about why PHP scripts are starting the download manager in the first place, never mind that download manager can't remember.

Now you say that 98% of the time switching the user agent works?

May I quote you, as even one failure with the IE agent will affect how the bug is chased?

Please be cautious here, and it's OK to say you can't commit one way or the other for absolutely sure....

Oh, and I forgot to say "Thank you" for telling me about the user agent switcher!

However, I'm not having any luck by switching to assuming the IE agent.. :(

Maybe this will help; it's the browser request and server response for clicking on the image attachment link. I modified session identification information just in case ;-)

I think this is the tcp stream from when I actually click on the little box that pops up that asks how I want to show the pic:

Edit: never mind it's the same stream

That 98% I put out there was just a # indicating that it works nearly all the time for me.
Tonight I came here on a fresh start. When i shut my machine down at night, i clear cookies, cache, history, etc.... so when I came here, your two attachments brought up the prompt again so i did the UA dealio, and again it fixed it for me, so I then went the ampics forum and went to 20 different threads/galleries and a total of 40 pics, and I did not run into a single one that gave me that prompt.
