neat icons

was wondering how everyone obtains those signature icons to the left of their posts.....i would like to get one but am unclear where to obtain one....thanks in advance

First you need 100 posts. Then you get a "Control Panel " option of having an icon/avatar under your name. Try using one of the search engines to look for "avatar" sites. Or if you have a photo programme, you can shrink any picture down to 150 x 150 pixels or less. Save the pic/avatar you want, on your hard drive (remember the location) and when the time comes you can upload it, under your name.

Some people post suggestions for AV's on the General board. Copy them, size them to max 150 X 150 pixels and follow Myrrdin's instructions

That is, after you reach 100 posts. Keep posting

There are far too many people around here who post crap and meaningless stupid junk simply to boost their post totals. I (and many like me) have *no* respect for such tactics.

You'll get there, honestly, and the rest of us will have a chance to really come to know you, too, in a substantive manner.

I started out at the role playing threads, if the person your playing with is on at the same time as you, going back and forth getting caught up in the fun you can get about 30 posts in just over an hour,

I've seen people on other boards that think the number of posts you have define who you are. then they brag about it, and end up being hatted and ignored by most.

Just go at your own pase.

well I just reached this and it took me 8 or 9 months. I lurked for awhile unsure if I wanted to voice my opinion. I try to post only on things I enjoy or want to voice my opinion about.

It's slow going but worth it in the long run. I have been visiting lit for years now. I lurked here on the boards and got a feel for many of the members personalities before entering my first post. The avatar will come. It's a nice expression of your personality to show others...just don't make it your goal for posting here! The real reason is to connect with people and share ideas and such. The avatar is just a nice perk.

Now what number am I on???
