I would think it better (piggybacking off the other poster's gentle reminder) that starting them at 18 will frame them as at least possessing the requisite basic maturity to make such a decision. There's still plenty of ways to segue off that to show they cannot quite grasp all the ramifications of their actions.

Inho, they pretty much were as they were. Well, okay, the pharaoh got to wear that ritual loincloth, but that's pretty much it, besides jewelry, and female pharaohs didn't wear anything more either, pharaoh role trumping any else considerations if there was any at all. Priests had some robes though, consistently enough to in some cases hide prosthetic limbs. And sure, that history very long in fact, with some inner diversity between periods, but nudity wasn't something they stressed about anyhow. And neighbors further south? These princesses did indeed wear gold and nothing else.

Maybe write it from the grown-up kids' point of view, learning that their parents have turned naturists, now that they are empty nesters. Funny but gross. Then becomes a seed to make them consider trying themselves. All parties go FAR from home to avoid running into each other and end up eventually running into each other at far away venues. Oops, Hi mom.

Having been to LOTS of naked venues, I can definitely say that older folks are much more comfortable in their skin than younger ones. So I can easily see a family where Mom and Pop, in their fifties, and bro and sis (early twenties maybe) have to coexist in a nudist camp/resort/faire, etc., with the parents having a great time and the kids being constantly grossed out. Maybe the kids want to get naked (or maybe just one of them?) but struggle to actually do it.
