is anyone out there using natural ie rhythem method etc birth control.
I am in a stable partnership and we plan to have kids within the next two years. I don't particulary want to start trying right now but i would dearly like to come off the pill (loss of libido and nausea side effects)
I seem to have reasonably regular periods naturally but am concerned about coming off pill and starting FAm
also do i have to attend a class or can i figure this one out at thome - i'm really looking for 70% protection and hey if the lady decides now is the tiem i'm gonna have a kis thats what happens.
PS naturally good at math and planning

rhythm method

Hey petrel,
i just read something about the rhythm method, this is what it says:
"according to the national institute of environmental health sciences, more than 70% of women can still get pregnant during the so-called safe times of the month. Counting the first day of her period as day 1, days 10-17 are traditionally considered a womans most fertile time. However researchers found that your fertility window can precede or exceed that time frame."
It doesn't sound very promising for you. Maybe you should think of some other way! Hope this helped.

what?

pardon me oh lord but i figured you already knew this information what with you being who you are and all

i've found that making love to women instead of men is an excellent form of birth control...

i do realize that this may not be an option for everyone, though

:D

I use the "rythm" method as I am allergic to nonoxydol 9 and have had very bad reactions to the pill.

Basically it has worked because i know my body and know when I ovulate. For me, 10-15 days after day 1 of my period are precarious. Either we use alternative means to achieve intimacy or use condoms.

I would hesitate to do so immediately after going off the pill. You can't be certain what will happen with your body as you adjust.

My doctor has recommended the IUD and I am considering it. Ummm after alot of careful research. It is not as dangerous as it once was, but as with anything, there are potential side affects.

Good Luck. And if I am wrong, name it after me!!!!

Hehehehe Mistake? ;)

My husband is an herbalist. He says that there are several herbs you can take that will not cause conception from taking place, but will expell the fertilized egg after it happens.

Personally, I don't think this option is sound. For me, anyway.

As shescurious mentioned, I do have a thread talking about the many different forms of Birth control.

if the pill is not for you, and neither are kids just yet, then I highly recommend at LEAST using a condom. Nothing will be completly 100% effective with such 'natural' methods, but you can help yourself out by adding to the amount of protection. A spermicide and a condom are about the most full proof non-chemical form of BC you can get. By saying non-chem, I mean, no pills, no injections, no surgery. Read through your different options, and learn your fertil times. This can also help you when you feel you are ready to conceive, in knowing when you are more likely.

Fertility thermometers can help judge this, as can an ob/gyn, if you don't know your body well enough.

For me, I never did. I was very athletic in school, and had a very irregular period, so I couldn't tell you from month to month when i would get my period, much less when I was fertile.

Talk methods over with your hubby, and your ob/gyn. You need something that makes both you and hubby comfortable, but that will offer you a form of protection against the lil kiddo's.

I hope this helps a bit, and my other post as well. Good luck. :)

Natural family planning worked for me.
It does take effort though.
You need to use a combination of methods-
Calender, mucus awareness and basal body temperature.

Thanks SP for posting the links.

It does work but you do have to use all of the methods and you do have to be extremely anal about it.Your cycles need to be pretty regular. As always there is margin for error but if you are planning a family soon anyway it should work forr you.
