Nasty's Fat women post. Is he really to blame?

When all of western culture is geared to skinny women. Airbrushed food deprived models and actresses are the norm. The guy is 22 years old and knows little about how the human body changes over time. All he knows is what he's been fed from TV, magazines, newspapers, radio, peers, and all other stimuli our culture has forced down his throat. How many of you picked av's that matched your body type. Or did you line up with the sheep and pick one that is no where near your body type, but nevertheless, is what we brainwashed westerners would call hot?

My problem with nasty's post wasn't that he isn't in to fat chicks. I really couldn't care less who he chooses to fuck. It was the implication that since he'd been through all the good lookin chicks, he'd give ol fatty a try.

I didn't pick an av that reflected my body type, because I've yet to find one. Is that my fault? I actually looked for 'normal' shaped women for an av. I found either model skinny or extremely obese. If choosing thin makes me a sheep, i can handle that. *shrug*

But, now I'm curious... do you look anything like your av?

Well, I'd agree that my av bears little physical resemblance to the real me, but that's because she's over twice my age and quite a bit shorter. We're both brunettes, though.

I agree that nasty is young, and we live in a thin-obsessed culture, and surely that played a role in his comments. I do not agree, however, with the assertion that the starved model look is the "norm." I don't live in Hollywood, I don't hang out with models, and I don't base my opinions on what's presented in fashion magazines. Every model and almost every actor looks too thin to me. My "norm" is based on the normal people around me.

I'm just hoping that the aging of the Baby Boomer population will drive marketers to once again relax the impossible standards they set for actors and models and let them reflect the real population again.

Be careful with the arguement that one is not really responsible for oneself...

(I haven't read that thread--just clicked on the last page today to see what you, WD, had written. Every time I come across that thread title though, I wonder if Nasty's GF posts messages to boards such as this one wonering of she is dating a total loser. I am sure someone has stated it better than myself though in that thread--I just don't have the stomach to read the thing based on the title alone.)

I lined up with the sheep and picked one no where near my body type. I'm guilty of perpetuating an ideal. Shit, now I gotta go and change my av. Agreed that we are all products of this western ideal; in the same vein I think we are all responsible for what we say and how we say it. I think this is reflected in my response to the thread. Of course most 22 year old male brains have been carelessly (yet deliberately) programmed to accept and reject certain body types. Does that make his attitude logical? Sure. Does it make it acceptable? Not if he wants to take another step toward learning about and being tolerant, loving and accepting toward women. Which I think, based on Nasty's response, is what he wants. That or everyone scared the shit out of him; that's always a possibility. But, hey, a major step toward change is behavioral, we don't all pick up on the actual purpose right away. Great question.

I personally had no problems with Nasty's post, it is his own opinion which is his entitled to whether I agree or not. And as for Western culture feeding these images into young men and women's minds, well, I'm sure that plays a part. But if this is true, how do you account for those men and women who seem to have no preference and those whom actually prefer their partner to be "overweight"? Are only some susceptible to these images? And if so, how do we know which is perpetuating what is fed to them and those who just prefer smaller women?

And I am not a sheep, the av is me.

Spend a lot of time looking for various avs to use, and haven't found any that are truly my "shape". So if I don't use a scene that reflects my feelings, I'll likely keep using the personal shots I've taken of the real me.

I never meant to imply that I would only go out with the obese woman because I had gone through the thin ones. What I meant, was, I USED to be only attracted to fairly thin woman,(FG and Ruby being he exception.) BUT, in the past few wks., I've begun to find overweight woman as sexy. It was really that simple, it just came out all backwards.

Cool. I hear nothing but sincerity there...I just think the whole thing raises an interesting topic. I'm happy to keep discussing it, with excusing nasty from being the issue--his remarks were merely the catalyst but it's an age-old problem that I hope could make a slow change for the better with open discussion. I did not get int othat thread because it didn't interest me, but I will respond to this comment; I have noticed just as many men have used muscular/ideal body shape Avs as women have used Avs that show curvaceous and shapely women.

Anymore, unless the Av is obviously an amateur pic, I assume that the Av is not necessarily representative of the way that person looks. I would prefer that it was, but everyone is free to use whatever Av they wish.

I do not use anything that could be mistaken as me - rather I use Avs that reflect my mood or some aspect of me that I wish to portray, or are just plain humorous.

I specifically looked for a piece of erotic art that contained a woman that had a bigger ass than most and had ass length black hair. Those are the two physical characteristics that I'm known for in RL.

As for Nasty. He said something he didn't think the whole way through. It was a mistake on his part, one I'm sure he is completely regreting considering the number of negative responses he has received.

Was I offended? At first, sure I was. I'm a big girl, with a fat ass. I'm also drop dead sexeh. I wish I had been more secure in myself to just blow his comments off as uninformed and unfortunate. I wasn't. I just got pissy and sarcastic.

Truth is, his post was stereotypical of lots of people out there, and that's why it hurt. He was just saying what lots of people deal with on the daily. It was painful. On a site where I would think people would try to be a bit more open minded because of the subject matter, the passive aggressive attack was a bit shocking.


When do we let it go? I'm sure he's been schooled enough. Oh wait, nope, I think it's time for the tar and feathers.

i tend to agree with Nasty somewhat..... recently iv become increasingly attracted to the more plump woman... i cant exactly say why.... and just so i dont shove my foot in my mouth too. skinny/thin/athletic women are all very sexy...
