It's been way too long, but we're finally going back. The plan for now is to establish some sort of base/spaceport on the moon as a stepping stone for the larger goal of placing human humans on Mars and future space exploration.

This reminds me of the guy who became a millionaire by taking advantage of a lack of space laws to take ownership of much of the moon. The he started selling it off at ridiculous prices to rich people.

Yep I remembered correctly, his name is Dennis Hope for anyone who wants to look it up.

NASA is still there. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter took video of the moon's shadow crossing North America last summer.

So they solved the solar radation issue,a way to keep micro meteroids from destroying the human habitat and the crippling effect that lighter gravity has on the human body.......yeah didn't think so.

Click this link I provided in the OP and scroll down to "Who's building it?". You'll have your answer. Do your own google search and you'll find lots of private businesses competing. Trump made it one of his goals at the very start of his Presidency. In fact the private sector has the jump on the US government, Trump wants to take advantage of the capitalistic competition. The space race is on again. NASA itself is actually and independent agency, though people forget that. It's responsible for the civilian space program and aeronautics aerospace research.
