The strangest thing happened this morning.. I opened my email and there was an email from my writing prof. It seems if we enter the National Novel Writing Month, we get a bye on about half of the shorter assignments this semester. The premise of the contest is, you have one month to write a 50000 word novel. It doesn't have to be good; it doesn't have to be great; it just has to be written between 0001 on November 1 and 2359 on November 30th. This is tempting; except that I tend to work a few weeks ahead on my assignments so part of what would be excused is already done.

But I digress. For information, you can go here.. NaNoWriMo

The coincidence part was that I was wandering about the Authors forum and I found this thread..

NaNoWriMo 2004!

Apparently Litsters have been doing this for a while.;) I don't know for sure if I'm going to participate this year or not; my class schedule at the Uni is brutal this year. I can't decide if replacing the original assignments is going to make more or less work for me. But anyway, I know some of us over here are writers, and I haven't seen your names over on the Author boards, so I thought I'd plug the contest over here.

Nifty.

Don't have time to sit and write a full novel though... not even a bad one, assuming I could let myself write that. Too damn critical of my own writings.

Still, cool concept.
