The thing that we can take comfort in is that people are more aware of what's going on in the world and these statements that people like Pelosi make, are seen for the shallow vote getting quips that they are rather than taken as a serious political statement "of fact". With all the media available to people (hundreds of news channels, web access, news radio and the myriad newspapers) we are constantly bombarded with news and more varied inputs than we used to get (big three liberal channels no longer have a monopoly).

I think the Democrats are underestimating the intelligence of the American people. They think that Americans are silly stupid sheep who are waiting to be enlightened by their superior intellects and will line up quickly to be led blindly wherever they want to go.

Thank goodness that other media outlets have proliferated. News radio is full of people reaching out and saying..."What to you think?" and directing their questions and inquiries throughtout the land.

Miles, you are in error. You've obviously overrated Pelosi.

The flag was a big issue in rural areas. There was a big rally and march here lead by a black man carrying the battle flag, and a parade of honking cars with "Defeat Barnes" and Ferget Hell" stickers all over them. But that wasn't the only issue. The teachers fucking hated Barnes. I thought the best part was after the election when 5 or 6 democrat senators crossed over giving the Republicans the state senate.
