Nancy Abudu, a lawyer for the nonprofit Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) legal advocacy group, was confirmed on a 49-47 vote. She will be the first Black woman to serve on the Atlanta-based 11th Circuit.

Abudu's nomination drew strong Republican opposition, and she faced a new obstacle on Wednesday night when Manchin, a moderate Democrat from West Virginia, broke ranks to oppose advancing her nomination.

When did far right wing, conservative, anti-abortion, anti-union, assholes like Joe Manchin become considered "moderate"?

Sen. Manchin Often Votes with Trump

A Republican TV ad claims Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia is “fighting the Trump agenda,” even though he has voted with the president nearly 61 percent of the time.

In fact, Manchin has voted with Trump more often than any Democratic senator.

Judge Abudu still got through, so no real harm done. And Manchin can use his opposition to her appointment to blunt attacks from the “republican” challenger to his Senate seat if he runs in 2024. The Biden administration also permitted a pipeline in West Virginia as tribute to Manchin’s importance to the Party. - Democrat’s tenuous hold on the Senate depends on more than mere tolerance of “moderates” like Manchin.

I also don’t want President Biden to give Manchin too much grief over some of his votes or comments. - If President Biden DID totally alienate Manchin, , then I would expect Manchin to run as a third party Presidential candidate / spoiler in 2024. - Losing control of the Senate would likely follow.

That ^ would be a bad thing.

Surrender monkey Democrats are going to surrender monkey. Championing right wing, anti-abortion, anti-union, conservative assholes and hoping for their re-election is the most stupid ass take on this imaginable. Claiming "this judge got through so no harm done" is like claiming the drunk school bus driver didn't kill anybody this time so it's okay to let them keep driving the bus.

This is a political forum and BD66 doesn’t understand how politics work.

Go figure.

🙄

If the placating of Manchin bothers BD66, then I’m sure they are equally opposed to the tributes progressives have received for their participation in / contributions to the Democratic Party’s broad coalition.

Also:

Most of the criticisms and politically damaging narratives President Biden and Democrats writ large are open / subjected to, that ALIENATES MANY INDEPENDENT VOTERS ,result from their attending to the issues prioritized by the progressive wing of the Party.

That ^ is acceptable to Democrats writ large, because progressives bring value to the party with their votes AND their ideas / ideals.

Seems more than fair.

More surrender monkey politics from some old fart who gets all his information and world view from corporate cable news. Can't imagine anything being different from the way the corporate owned newscasters and party bosses tell him it is. Whatever slop they pour in your trough is taken as gospel without question.

Your strategy of kissing Republican ass has lost the country abortion rights, got fascist Trump elected, turned the Supreme court into a whorehouse for corrupt corporate interests, etc. The way you act like shit is under control and "you got this" is absurd. Failure after epic failure is what your style of politics has brought us. This gaslighting of "this is the only way politics can work" is pure bullshit.

You dottering old fuckers with your old style politics and conventional wisdom of capitulation and losing as standard operating procedure needs to end. So sick of these old fuckers ruining everything with their tired ass bullshit. Biden, Feinstein, Pelosi, all of them need to go.

Remember Democrats. Never aspire to get what you really need or even keep what you've got. Our only choice is to support right wing conservatives and cower in fear of losing the Senate because having balls and being willing to fight an anathema to these fucking cowards.

Curious...name one Democratic "ideal" that has a possibility of being implemented in the next 10 years? How about 50 years? One. Should be simple.

Easier to count how many long held established rights like abortion will be lost. They won't fight for anything. Spineless capitulation to conservatives is all they got.

This radical from the Marxist hate group we know as the SPLC was never a court judge of any kind and therefore certainly has no such experience to be sitting as a Circuit Court of Appeals judge. This is a radical nominee who once said voter ID serves no legitimate state interest. So to her, the state has no interest in knowing if you are who you say you are? Now we know why the Democrats nominated and confirmed her.

BD66 has the memory of a Goldfish.

The young far left progressive’s inflexible / uncompromising strategy FAILED in 2016 and gave us American carnage: A packed radical right-wing Supreme Court that overturned Roe (etc),, tax cuts for the rich, attacks on marginalized groups, societal division and unrest, the rise of white nationalism, etc, etc, etc.

Besides not understanding how political strategy works, BD66 also doesn’t understand how basic warfare strategy works either. - Or how war strategy / tactics apply to the political theater: Careful flanking maneuvers are the better tactic when the opposing political sides are fairly evenly divided - as they are currently. A heedless headlong charge of progressive idealism by the Democratic Party would be political suicide at this point in time.

Again...this is 100% proven to be an inaccurate statement. Demographics have shown those votes you claim made the difference have been proven to have happened predominantly IN STATES THAT VOTED DEMOCRAT and have not been shown to MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE IN ANY STATE THAT VOTED TRUMP. The reason we lost that election was because of 2 demographics...we lost the white, female, suburban vote...and we were devastated by the Latino vote in States that could have been a difference. You and Adrina are a good pair...and no better than our Republican friends here in refusing to look at the real information. May I suggest a simple Google for any state that went Trump? Google 2016 presidential election Demographics plus the State of interest.

Blaming the left for corporate Democrats failure is all you have got. Will there ever be a time when you take responsibility for a strategy that has failed over and over? This is the exact same as the Republican mindset. Blame those with the least amount of money, influence, and power for the problems you refuse to take responsibility for.

Your sad attempts at normalizing epic failure of the corporate controlled Democratic party is tiresome. Democrats stand for nothing and fight for nothing. Just empty platitudes and long winded diatribes on nonsensical political strategies that objectively are losers.

He doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about. They get their information from partisan hacks that appear on cable news. No data. No empirical evidence. Just their feelings about what they heard from some hack who's salary depends on upholding the failing status quo.

End of Blame Game: Sanders (and His Supporters) Helped Hillary Win Popular Vote in 2016

Sanders voters were an indispensable contribution to her popular vote tallies.

With over 74% of Sanders followers taking Bernie's lead to vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016, Sanders voters contributed mightily to Clinton's popular vote win, as well as her prevailing in several swing states, that she would have otherwise lost, going down to a crushing defeat. Sanders voters were an indispensable contribution to her popular vote tallies.

And your response was no more "informed or correct" than our Republican friends here. Become educated...or not.

For those that doubt me...do some simple searches of the demographic differences between 2016 and 2020. Or people can believe the lies. You can't educate those that think they know everything or those that don't care.

This also is not true. Show me one Republican that calls out another Republican's bullshit. I am a lifelong Democrat. I have voted Republican only once in a Presidential election...and that was my first one...Reagan. But I have no problem calling out my fellow Democrats just as easily as I call out you.

When did I say Republicans call out out other Republicans? They don't. You must be confusing me with someone else. They have a rapist at the top of their Presidential ticket and I haven't heard one Republican call that shit out.

Presidents are not elected by the popular vote. They are elected by the Electoral College. Each State dictates how their Electoral College voting is done. This is known before any election.

If 12% of the Sanders vote voted for Trump...in California...would it matter? No. The State still went to Clinton. If 12% of the Sanders vote would have voted for Clinton in any Republican state..would it have mattered? No. Those states were going to go to Trump no matter what.

So the reality is there are only a couple states where it could have made a difference...but it didn't. Why? Because IN THOSE STATES there was not enough Sanders votes to make a difference by losing 12%. Maybe in Pennsylvania...but let's pretend Pennsylvania went for Clinton. Would she have won the election? No. Because even with those Electoral votes...she wouldn't have crossed the threshold.

Where did Clinton underperform? White female suburbanites. Latinos. Where did Biden gain votes? White female suburbanites. He performed even worse than Clinton did with Latinos. (Guess what...that's Florida dumbasses).

This is a fact. It can't be debated. Clinton lost not because of young voters...but because for some reason, White female suburbanites didn't like her.
