Naming your Characters and your Babies

Did your last story fall flat because you named the cute little 18 year old girl you had running around in a bikini, Gertrude? Would it have been useful to know that virtually no one has named their daughter Gertrude since the 60's and the name actually peaked in the 1890's.

Jennifer, Jessica, Amanda, Ashley would have been better names. In fact, they were the top four in the 80's.

Here is a wonderful little website that not only lets you know the popular names about the time your character would be born, but shows you the popularity of a particular name down through history. For the curious, this will waste a good amount of your time today.

My great grandmother Gertie thanks you Ted...and my sister thanks my mother for stopping my father from carrying on the name...

That is quite helpful Bare...the chain story i am working on with a friend has the female character as Catherine and the male character as William...the story i am working on solo has the female character as Kelly and the male character is referred to as "He or Him"... :D
