Hi all, I'm in need of a small bit of advice atm.
I have this 6-part story that's currently half published.
The 6th part, or 6th chapter is actually an epilogue. It's shorter and will only serve the purpose of concluding the story and explain what happened to ppl after the story has finished.
So for now all my chapters are named as following : "Story name Ch. 01" / "Story name Ch. 02" etc.

But how should i name my epilogue ? should I name it "Story name - Epilogue" , "Story name Ch. 06 - Epilogue" or simply "Story name Ch. 06" and explain it's an epilogue in the intro ?

About series. there already is a series but it's manual - tho it doesn't work properly and does not show as such but this is a different issue - So i'm not worrying too much about naming and automatic triggering.

Thanks a lot !

Here's my recommendation: Don't have a separate chapter for your epilogue. It probably won't be as fun or interesting and won't be the ideal way to end your story with a chapter. Instead, tag the epilogue onto the back of Chapter 5.

Definitely Story Name - Chapter 06 so it will stay in order in the story listing. Adding Epilogue to it is a personal preference. I have done it both ways and didn't see any mention of it positively or negatively in the comments.

FWIW, I'd do "Story name Ch. 06 - Epilogue", which of course falls completely apart if it's too long for the title field. But it would be recognized by the series automatic feature. Or you could simply do "Story name Ch. 06" and put "Epilogue" or "Epilogue - [blah blah blah]" in the description/subtitle.

I disagree with appending to Ch. 05, especially if it changes the tenor of the narrative when you have already published distinct chapters.

If the story had been finished before publishing any part of it, this issue likely wouldn't exist.

Since that's not the case, and chapters are being submitted individually, I think that it would be important to identify the epilogue for what it is. This is what I have always done, primarily because my epilogues are frequently chronologically different than the previous chapters (ten years later, etc.) I don't post individual chapters any longer so it has never been a naming concern for me.

The other benefit to describing it as the epilogue is that it gives a clear indication to readers that the story is complete.

STORY NAME - Chap. ## - Epilogue would be my recommendation.

As I recall, I added a Horizontal Rule of some kind, maybe even just a line of dashes.

Story ends
-------------------------------------------------------
And years later, this is what happened to them all.

Readers hated it when I told them everybody had died.

And they didn't understand why I had them all gather in the town cemetery as spirits to go back to the family home and collect the spirit of the last one on the night she died.
