My publisher :eek: (How cool does THAT sound?) wants me to have a "real" name. Apparently, "impressive" just doesn't cut it. :rolleyes: ;)

I got some suggestions in ABSTRUSIONS last night ...

Eve Press
Emma Press
Em Pressive
Fancy Licksalot (from Dran/cloudy's AH name generator)

Colly recommended that I skip the cleverness and have a name that's more significant and reflective of my spirit (such as a Native American translation).

I've been looking through the author list at phaze.com and some of the authors have gimmicky names (e.g., Dreama Faire) and others do not.

So, friends, please help me pick a new nom de plume! :rose:

That would be Pooh Main ... or Pooh St. Main (where the St. stands for Street, not Saint).

Thanks. I'm not set on a "porn star" moniker ... but I won't rule it out yet, either.

Seriously, though I think I would go back and look at old family names if I had to pick a pen name. If you have some good family history available, it would be fun to look through and pick which names you liked. I'd probably even use my great grandmother's name, which was Anna Hazel, cause I've always loved it. :cattail:

I like Jade ... and I've also considered using Stormy (from "Wetter ...")

... but nothing is screaming at me.

I was thinking about suggesting one of your character names.

You could always go for Jade Pavilion. That was 19C Chinese slang for a vagina :D.

:D -- possibly obscure enough to not seem porn-starish.

Cealy -- Emma (or just Em) has a lot of potential, especially if I go with a play on "impressive."

Jillian Callaghan (Jillian means, simply, girl; Callaghan means discreet - a perfect Nom De Plume, if you ask me)

and

Lena Machrie (Lena means alluring, temptress; Machrie means my beloved)

I had a blast picking out my nom de plume a couple of years ago and have written under a couple of times. For your own research, I send you to www.babynamesworld.com (for first names) and www.last-names.net (for last names). Good luck, Imp!
