I could probably chuck anyone under 50 lbs. at least a few feet.

LMAO! I thought you meant chuck as in puke, chunder... you get the point? I was like  at Laurel. But I was wrong. :):D

How much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?

To make this answer meaningful, however, we need to answer the important questions that this simple query raises... What IS a woodchuck? DOES a woodchuck chuck wood? COULD a woodchuck chuck wood? What exactly do we mean by chuck? What sort of wood would a woodchuck chuck if it had, say, an account at a local lumber store? What the hell is Drew on?

Well, a woodchuck is technically a marmot, of the species marmota monax. In fact, a woodchuck is identical to a groundhog, so we can count ourselves lucky that we're not asking our kids "How much hog might a groundhog grind...?" This could possibly be because marmots are vegetarians, so they're unlikely to be interested in ground pork, however, since they eat succulent green plants (like dandelion greens etc), they're also unlikely to be excited by the prospect of lobbing large lumps of lumber...

As for 'chuck', we've already worked out that woodchucks don't eat wood (although they have been known to gnaw it). So, in the interestes of good taste, I'll limit my answer to 'chuck' meaning 'to throw or toss'...

Finally, nobody has ever documented a woodchuck chucking wood. That's pretty obvious, since if a woodchuck did chuck wood then we would know how much it would chuck, wouldn't we? So if a woodchuck won't chuck wood, how could we work out how much wood he could chuck if he could?

Well, a New York state wildlife expert, Richard Thomas has worked out a way. His idea was to work out the average volume of a woodchuck's burrow, and assume that since a woodchuck does chuck dirt when burrowing, then if it were burrowing through some form of wood (like woodchips or something) then a woodchuck would chuck a weight of wood which would equal the dirt he does chuck. All clear?

So, if a woodchuck could chuck wood then it'd chuck 'about 35 cubic feet' (9.88 cubic metres), or '700 pounds' (317.52 kg) of wood. Aren't you pleased that you know that now?

Chunder? LOL! I've never heard that one. How does one use it in a sentence? Is it like, "Eating two Alberto's carne asada burritos in a row makes me chunder"?

I started counting all the Chucks I know and it is really a big list. I don't think any of them come to lit, however. I could invite them if you want a slew of Chucks to able....

lol I thought this might have something to do with....

My partner and crime Chuckus. lol I guess I too was wrong.

( Laurel Honey, I love My Kiwi Cutie to death, Debbiexxx. Sometimes I don't understand her either. I'm so glad that she gave a link to a few Kiwi phrases. I was surprised to see that some of the words and phrases I was familiar with. I think that is a part of her wit and charm. I just love the Kiwi slang. Well.... lol It's slang to me, just talking to them. (((HUGS))) to Debbiexxx and Laurel.

Hmmmm... I knew that because it was on a radio morning show here the other day. Another piece of useless trivia to float around in my head.

How long did it take the wood chuck to chuck 700 pounds of wannabe chuck? A day? A year? Any self respecting rodent would not let some over educated scientist assume that dirtchuck and woodchuck share chuckness.

He'd chuck all the wood that a woodchuck could if a woodchuck could chuck wood.

I've heard "chunder" before. Like most synonyms of "vomit," I would suppose that it can mean both the act and the result.

My favorite terms are "heave," "unswallow," and "blow rainbows."

Does anyone here like woodchucks? I think they're cute. Woodchucks and bats, I love um.

Laurel, have you ever heard Men at Work's "Livin in a Land Down Under"? I know you have but you might not remember. They used the word 'chunder'.
