Not sure which group to post this question on so i just picked Fetish and Sexuality. There is a TV show on called Naked and Afraid; not sure if you have seen it? The premise is 2 people, one male and one female, go out in the wilderness with only one tool and nothing else. No clothes, no shoes, no nothing. They have to survive 21 days in this remote place and then trek to a pick up spot. I know lots of sexual innuendos here and some probably do some fucking but that can be a different thread and perhaps some of the contestants or friends of the contestants can chime in. So anyways, 21 days...in the wilderness...no toilets...no showers...no soap!!!

The reason why i am posting this is....well, let me begin and i hope i write this correctly, lol. We are in the process of moving. I have already drove down to our new state. On Sunday, i took a shower mid morning and then did a lot of running around on Sunday. I woke up on Monday and had still more errands and things to do and did not get the chance to get a shower in. I woke up this morning, Tuesday and worked out and came back to my room. My wife called me on the phone and we talked a little and i was going to jump in the shower. As i am getting undressed, i realized that i just stink! I told my wife that i have to let her go because i need shower!! Since Sunday, i have eaten, slept, used the bathroom, worked out, etc, etc.

So my question is how does one go 21 days without bathing!!!!!!! I just felt gross after 2 days but i am one of those clean freaks anyway, lol! 21 days with a stranger of the opposite sex. They sleep next to each other to keep warm, no washing, no deodorant, no toilet paper!!!! Wtf!!!!

Further more, think about in days of old when one never bathed!! Or pioneers who bathed once a year!!!! My skin is crawling right now and i think i am going to take another shower!!!

Your thoughts and comments??

Going 21 days

I have gone more than 21 days without a shower numerous times .... when I was in the U.S.Army Infantry and out in the woods.

But to be intimate with someone without a recent shower? Absolutely NOT!

:)

The human race has been around for a long time, so our ancient ancestors didn't have the advantage of modern hygiene. Since they all smelled the same, and put up with the same conditions, they had sex and continued procreating, even though, to us, we'd think they smelled like livestock. I agree that frequent showers are the societal norm, but it's a matter of what you're used to. ;)

I've seen this show from time to time but don't waste any effort watching because they blur out any real nudity. As for the bathing, there is usually some water like streams, lakes, etc so that could help and as others have said, if someone else smells as bad as you do, maybe you go "nose blind" as the one commercial says. As someone else said, we are animals and basically smell like livestock to other animals and perhaps if we all smelled like pigs, it wouldn't make any difference. Pigs and cattle and horses all mate. What makes us so different other than how we were raised to bathe every day.

First of: as little I have seen from the show (and that's on level of random commercials) the setting is typically sort of warm tropical paradise, and there is water accessible in abundance. Even if there was no ocean/sea/lake/river they obviously need access to drinking water, and in the context, that probably means running spring or some such. So there is opportunity to wash oneself, just no soap. Even if there just enough water to drink, in that case it should be possibility to wash in dry sand or at least dirt (yes, one can do that, especially when living nude).

It is clothes that really stink, nudity is an advantage here. Specialness of nudity wears off in under an hour, by the way; I would think few days in that would feel as normal as anything. Also, intimacy and sex are not the things you would stress about while trying to survive. The body odour will also change, of course. After the first week, you won't notice your own anymore. By the end of the second, you will love your partner's -- provided you develop any feelings other than hate towards them (and, all other things similar, incompatible body odour might be between reasons for the later, but doubt it would be high on importance, well, not for me anyway).

Speaking of personal experiences, I have gone without a bath of any kind for just over three months (mid September to mid December) living out in woods in moderately cold climate: up to +17C at day at first altough around +10C or less mostly, down to light freezing at night, -5C by the end (63...50...20F). Don't ask why. People play strange games sometimes, all I will say. I wasn't contacting anyone for most of it, and for the few occasions I absolutely should, I had change clothing I used just for that and changed back as soon I could. Even then my 'clean' clothing was probably worse than yours ever was by the end.

I have long hair and that was absolutely gross by the end of the first week, but then the excess oiling dried and it settled to kind of permanent mode with wasn't so bad at all although it offered slightly less thermo-insulation for the head I'm used to. Based on this experience I would rule three months the maximum one should ever go without general bath, because old skin and dirt start to form kind of little scales and fall off when scratched. It is gross and probably prone to infections.

I don't know how they supposedly did it for years, but then I believe the reports about it should be inaccurate or confused. There is a difference between capital scrubbing batch what can be, and was, a big event once a year or whatever (actually once a week where I live, for peasants, throughout the last thousand years) and the more general everyday-ish washing that is left under-reported because of the absolutely given nature. Then I know certain kinds of aristocracy were confused by strange beliefs and it is usually them who write the history. In short, the actual working force usually had (sometimes by far) better hygiene than the ruling class we're used to read about.

I love naked and afraid. It’s one of my guilty pleasures.

As for the hygiene, once they have the water challenge solved, they have the ability to wash up. You can also dry wash by a variety of methods. Oddly enough I would imagine body odor is not the problem when you’re naked – under ordinary circumstances the problem is that the body odor builds up in your clothing as it absorbs your sweat.

Yes, lol, my cousin calls it Blurred and Afraid instead of Naked and Afraid. I guess you would go nose blind after a while and maybe the first week the worse of the smells come out? I dont know and i dont want to do a scientifc experiment to find out, lol!

To all that spoke of rinsing in a stream, yes that is possible. Does it remove all the....junk? I dont know and that is another science experiment that i do not want to try, lol!!! I like being and smelling clean, period end of story, lol!!!!

So, i will not be auditioning for the show Naked and Afraid, lol. But hunting, fishing, camping in the wilderness, sure i am in! But i want a hot shower located no farther than 5 miles away, lol!!!!!

yes. From experience. I've hiked long distance in hot weather, many times, as have many others, bathing in mountain streams and lakes. Nothing cleaner. No indoor shower gets you as clean. And camped in shelters lots of times with other hikers. The only people I ever met who smelled bad were the short-distance hikers who didn't know enough to bathe.

Women in heat have no problem with (or are even attracted to) unwashed, sweaty, smelly men.

After arousal subsides, they hate the odor.
