Maybe it's just me, but I haven't seen Na No mentioned yet this year. Only some 3 weeks to go, so anyone going for it again this year? And if so, what's your story?

Chris

I think there was a thread but it was a while back...didn't drkside post it?

Anyhow, I'm im :D I have no idea what I will be writing, though. It will be erotic (I am an erotic authores, might as wellblend business and pleasure) but other than that I don't know.

Not this year Chris, still finishing the edit of last years.

I do have a plot quietly churning away for the next one I enter.

I still haven't finished 2005's.

I got off to a good start ... then went to Milwaukee for a weekend ...

Did you come back... :)

The editing is so damn hard, but it's getting there.

I'm still working on both the 2005 and 2006 stories, but that won't stop me going with another. This one's based on 'The First Fleet', and the 'Lady Penrhyn'. A convict ship that transported a cargo of 130 convict women 15,000 miles from England to Australia in 1788. The research is horrendous, but hey, it's still better than working.

Just getting onto the Nano forum has been a real pain in the butt so far. Hope they get the gremlins sorted before the kick off.

Best wishes,
Chris

I came back ... but I've never been quite the same.

:)

I have work on spec with Phaze that could be NaNo-ed, since I've only done research & outlining thus far.

Will think about it.

aaarrrrrrrrghhhh. not again. why oh why did i read this thread? *sob*

*runs away gibbering at the prospect*

I'm not participating this year. I now have a full time job, plus I've got an edit that I have to get done, so I really don't think I'll have time for nano.

I wasn't able to last year. I started it right after the surgery and then was just too drained. I've got no muse at the moment. Perhaps I will when it begins; we'll see.

Yes. My advice would be to make sure you've got something else on during November

But then this will be my 4th attempt, so I guess there must be something addictive about it. Check out the Nano forums and see who else in your area is taking part. You'll often find they have get togethers which can be quite a laugh. It helps to put faces to names, and makes you realise that writers are a pretty crazy bunch. Some of the plot scenarios that came up last year were hilarious.

Sorry to hear you won't make it Crim, hope the new job is going well.

And best wishes to Red, hope you're well.

The idea of NaNo is to get you writing on a regular basis, to get you 'into the zone' where words flow. bearing that in mind, don't try to edit as you go, it'll only slow you down. If you're stuck on a scene, move on to a scene you can visualise, you can return after nano to edit, write in-fill scenes etc. The buzz is from achieving the goal, and always remember it is not going to be read (at this stage) by anyone but you, the nano certification process is simply a word count, not a reading of your submission.

Thanks Chris. I'm doing well as far as health goes, my muse however has decided to slow her ass down and is barely crawling about on the floor these days.

I'm in. I got an email from the Nano board stating that they would be closed down for a bit in October setting up the new design for the forum boards and the personal pages. I haven't even tried to get there yet. I love doing the Nano, it's fun.

And as for advice for the new guy. Write, that's what were there for.

I'm in. Since I'm also in Survivor, I hope "30 short stories in 30 days" will at least keep me in the top 15.

I did Survivor 2006. Loved it. I took this year off from it. I needed my mind to regroup. lol

I think I'll participate next year though. I enjoy the challange of writing at least one story in every category. :)

what was the scoring like that year?

i managed 131 points here

There's a copy of the top 10. As you can see, no one was catching 1st and 2nd. :D For a while I and dirtyjoe were neck and neck and then he just really took off and left me eating his dust.
