Okay, I give. Color me stupid.

If I haven't been enjoying my Friday too much and imagining things, I see two separate seas from my vantage point. The sea of "I Want To Help By Editing" is to my left screaming, even beging, for work. And the sea of "I Need (Editing) Help" is on my right.

People, let's build a friggin canal!

AsylumSeeker, I'm not sure where you're going with this ... can you clarify?
Are you saying that some editors are being underused and some authors are being unassisted?

My understanding of the EF is that is a place where Editors or authors can post to look for opportunities or assistance. Alot of the interchanges may occur on PM or email, so you may not see "matches" being made. I'm sure that there are editors out there who check in on the EF from time to time but rarely (if ever) posts and the same goes for authors ... they might pick up the name of someone who posts or who has been mentioned in a post and send a private request.

Also, timing is everything ... it all depends who is online, when they are online, how swamped they are with Real Life and other editing projects, and how interested they are in taking on new projects.

Good Point

RogueLurker,

Thanks for your insightful response. I forget about the "undergound" (PM). That makes sense.

It's just that as a responsible instructor it really pisses me off when I see other instructors not respond when a student is obviously in need because they're too lazy to get off their ass. I guess I carry that with me and it can, at times, affect my personal life.

Apologies.
